Verizon App Challenge: Hilburn Students Win Best in State

Our team at Hilburn Academy just won Best in State in the Verizon Innovative Learning app challenge that asked us to solve a community problem with the use of an app! That means our app concept is the best among all the middle school entries in North Carolina. Our app concept, TRACKRZ, tracks school buses so that students, parents and schools have a better idea of when buses arrive at stops. The app will also allow parents to receive notifications when their child gets on and off the bus after the driver scans the student qr code. We won $5,000 for Hilburn and tablets for every team member! And it gets better—we are in the running for the app challenge Fan Favorite award which will allow us to work with the MIT Media Lab to actually make our concept into a real app. To make this a reality, our concept needs to get the most votes. Help us win by texting TRACKRZ  (no "e" in TRACKRZ) to 22333 between January 16 and February 14! Voting is quick and easy and you can only vote once. Please share with your friends!

Here's our app commercial.
