Rising Kindergarten Update 02/03/2022

February 03, 2022

Rising Kindergarten Families,

We can't wait to have you join the Salem Elementary family in 2022! Welcoming new kindergartners and their families is one of the highlights of our year. Even if things may look a little different, we maintain that same feeling of excitement! We have held multiple in-person tours after school hours and will be hosting a kindergarten orientation session before the end of the year. Hopefully, this event can be in person. This year, the timing and focus of our events will look a little different because we are still waiting on crucial information for our planning process. Most notably, we are waiting to see how the opening of Apex Friendship Elementary and the callback of students to Olive Chapel Elementary will impact the number of classes on each track and grade. If you missed the in-person tours, we expect to offer additional opportunities for incoming families in the spring. For now, please check out our virtual tour by clicking here.

Today we are excited to share our kindergarten team's website for rising kindergarten students and their families. We are also sharing a helpful,  new video from our kindergarten team that introduces our kindergarten teachers and shares some tips on how to ensure that your child is ready for a successful start to kindergarten.

Introduction to Kindergarten at Salem Elementary Video

If you have not already registered for kindergarten next year, please do this right away. It is crucial that we know how many kindergarten students we will have so that we can keep and hire the best teachers around. It is much easier to keep existing teachers, whom we love, or find amazing new teachers early in the hiring window (now) than it is to find amazing teachers closer to the start of school in July. If you want your kindergarten student to have the best possible teacher, PLEASE register now by clicking here. Please continue to check the bottom of our website under Salamander News for updates and call the school with any questions you may have at (919) 363-2865.
