Sunday Night Announcements - Week of January 20th
Hello Wonderful Wendell Families,
Where is the school year going? It's already the last week of the 2nd Quarter! Here are the Sunday Night Announcements for the week of January 20th:
No School on Monday
There is no school tomorrow, Monday, January 20th, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Students and staff return to school on Tuesday.
Thanks to all who attended last Thursday's Family Engagement night... Please click here to see pictures from the event.
Our computer in the front office is back up and running... Thanks for your patience as we had to go back to paper last week!
3rd Annual Valentine's Sweetheart Dance
Please mark your calendars for Friday, February 7th... The date of our 3rd annual WES Valentine's Sweetheart Dance! In order to guarantee that your family is able to attend, please RSVP with your payment no later than this Friday, January 24th. Due to space limitations, fire code restrictions and headcount deadlines, any RSVPs/payments received after Friday, January 24th may not be honored.
Spring AIG Nomination Window
The next AIG nomination window will be open from January 27th through February 10th... Please contact our AIG teacher, Keith Green (email@example.com) with any questions/concerns.
Annual Asbestos Notification
Please remember that if you want to check your child out of school early, you must bring your photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) with you. Failure to bring your ID may result in our front office staff denying your request for an early student checkout. This policy is in place for the safety of our students. Please contact me if you have any questions/concerns.
This year, WES is using Readvolution (a district-wide reading initiative partnering WCPSS and the Carolina Hurricanes) in conjunction with some school-based programs. Please see the program overview and book logging instructions (click here and here for the Spanish versions). Thanks for encouraging your child(ren) to read, read, read!
Student Check-out and Transportation Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that 2:30pm is the cutoff time for students being checked out by families each afternoon; if you arrive after that time, you will be directed to pick up your child(ren) through the carpool line.
Additionally, transportation changes must be communicated to the front office before 2:30pm as well. Students will be sent home via their regular means of transportation if change requests are received after 2:30pm.
Thank you for following these procedures, which are in place for the safety of our students.
As you visit campus this year and take pictures, please consider emailing your candid and group photos to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in our 2019-2020 yearbook.
Please consider utilizing our new digital book collection, which is now available to every student here at WES! Our kids can now checkout digital titles and have access to them from any device, 24/7/365! The link and login information can be found on the front page of our website in the Daily School Announcements section (just below the big red toolbar). You can also simply click the MackinVIA logo below and use the following login info:
Username: First part of student's email address (before @wcpss.net). For example, "jdzellmer"

The books can be sorted by reading level, genre and category, amongst others. Please contact our Media Specialist, Nikohl Scheuerlein at email@example.com with any questions you have. Happy reading!
