5-5-17 Bimonthly Bulletin
National Honor Society 2017-18
Any current sophomore or junior interested in seeking National Honor Society membership for the 2017-2018 school year must complete and submit the Candidate Information Packet to room 133 by Friday, May 19. The packet can be found on the school's website. Students may contact Stephanie Langlois, NHS Adviser, at slanglois@wcpss.net or stop by room 133 with questions.
Exam Schedule
The Semester 2 Exam Schedule is now posted on-line. You can access the schedule here. Exams will be held Monday, June 5 through Thursday, June 8, with a make-up day on June 9. Please remember that buses no longer run immediately after exams and only run at 2:18. During the fall, most parents signed a permission form to allow students to leave immediately following exams. If you would like to update your permission form, please email Kathy Flor at kflor@wcpss.net. Include your name and your child’s name. Students who do not have permission to leave campus may remain until 2:18. Students who need to ride the bus home must remain on campus until 2:18. Once students leave campus after exams, they may not return for the day.
Transportation Information in PowerSchool
WCPSS is excited to announce that student transportation information can now be found in one single location in PowerSchool. In order to provide the highest level of customer service to families, WCPSS is asking parents who do not yet have a Powerschool account to stop by Student Services to complete the necessary form. Forms are also available on our website under Students and Forms.
Once you have a Powerschool account, look for the transportation tab to see your student’s transportation status and type. If your student is a bus rider, stop and route information is also provided.
We hope this new tool provides families a quick way to find their transportation information and answers many of the questions often directed to schools and transportation offices.
Be a Good Neighbor
There have been some issues involving students and parents parking in the nearby neighborhoods surrounding Leesville. Homeowners in these areas have also reported rude and disrespectful behavior. Please help us be a good neighbor and avoid parking and picking up in these areas.
Graduation Reception: Volunteers Needed for Decorating Shifts and Servers
Thanks so much to all who have volunteered to help so far - we really appreciate it. However, we still have a great need for volunteers to get ready for the Graduation Reception. Volunteer duties include painting the trellis, putting out tablecloths, making flower arrangements, preparing food and numerous other tasks. Most shifts are three hours, however, if you can come for even part of that time, it would be greatly appreciated. No experience is needed; we will put you to work! Parents, let your students know that they can also help prepare (they just cannot volunteer during the reception). This is a great way to earn volunteers/service hours.
Paint Trellis: May 10th @ 1:30 (students can join us after school)
Graduation Set up and Decoration:
Thursday, June 8th shifts are: 2-5 pm and 5-8 pm
Friday, June 9th shifts are: 9-12pm, 12-3 pm, 3-5 pm
Graduation Reception Servers:
Friday, June 9th 5:30- 8:30
Clean up:
Friday, June 9th 8-9:30
The Graduation Reception is a send-off to Seniors by the parents of underclassmen. This is a great way to contribute your time, so that others will follow in the years when your child graduates. Please contact Julie Sauls at saulsfive@gmail.com to let her know when you are available to help.
