Transportation: 2018 – 19 School Year
On Friday, May 11, 2018, the Transportation Department will begin receiving requests from transportation-eligible families for the 2018-19 school year. July 30th will be the deadline to guarantee transportation for the first day of the 2018 – 19 school year.
If your (transportation eligible) child will be riding the bus from the same address to the same school next year, you do not need to take action. If you need to update your bus service, please go online at www.wcpss.net/busrider
Senior Scholarship/Military Recognition
Parents, we are significantly behind our pace for receiving scholarship and military recognition. Students who receive scholarship offers or military recognition are recognized by name at our senior assembly. If you haven’t submitted your information yet, please do so as soon as possible. The deadline is May 31. In the last few years, we have surpassed the previous year’s scholarship totals, so let’s keep that trend going by submitting all scholarship information you have. Seniors can include all scholarships they have been offered, even those to a school they are not planning to attend. For scholarships, we need a copy of the scholarship award letter. For military service, we need documentation of enlistment. A scholarship/military recognition form can be found at the link below or can be picked up in the Student Services Office.

Safe Schools Tip Line
Over the past couple of months, parents have asked about a Tip Line to report safety concerns. The district has a system where parents and students can call 919.856.1911 to make a report. The system is in place help prevent and stop violence at schools. I still encourage parents to call Leesville’s front desk during normal school hours if they have information to share.
Important Information for Seniors
Senior Parents, please take note of this important information regarding Leesville’s Senior Assembly on Friday, June 1; Graduation Reception on Friday, June 8; and Graduation on Sunday, June 10.
*Until a senior meets all academic and financial obligations, he/she will not receive graduation tickets nor a diploma.*
Senior Assembly will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the main gym on Friday, June 1. Tickets are NOT required for this event. All seniors must arrive at school by 7:30 that morning with cap and gown to prepare for this event.
Graduation Rehearsal, a required event, will be that afternoon at 3:45 at the Raleigh Convention Center and will conclude at exactly 5:30.
Graduation Reception will be held at school Friday, June 8 from 7-9 p.m. Today, May 18, is the RSVP due date. The school does not hold tickets back nor offer extras.
Graduation will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center on Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. Seniors must be at the Convention Center at 1 p.m. The Convention Center does not allow the following items: drinks of any kind, glass vases, balloons, wrapped packages, or camera tripods.

Final Exam Schedule
The schedule for Final Exams is posted on our website at https://www.wcpss.net/cms/lib/NC01911451/Centricity/Domain/1078/Exam%20schedule---June%202018.pdf. If you have any questions about when your student is supposed to take a specific exam, please contact the teacher of that course. While buses will only depart at 2:18, students may leave campus immediately after exams with parent permission. Forms were distributed in the fall for you to indicate whether or not your student had permission to leave immediately after exams. That permission is still valid for June exams. If you have any questions about what you indicated or want to change your permission, email Kathy Flor at kflor@wcpss.net.
Repeated Student Services Updates
Senior Thank You Video
The Wake County Public School System is going to produce a video for Graduation 2018 in which seniors visit teachers or other school professionals who made a difference in their lives and thank them for being instrumental in getting them where they are today. This is what WCPSS is looking for:
Graduating seniors who might want to thank a teacher, counselor, administrator, cafeteria worker, custodian, teacher assistant, bus driver, or anyone who made a big impact on their decision to stay in school and pursue success.
The person can be from the senior’s current school, but could also be where the student "reaches back" to elementary or middle school.
The graduating senior will surprise the staff member wearing their cap and gown.
The graduating senior will recount for the staff member what they said or did that had such an impact (you told me I could do anything, you smiled at me every day, you set an example of the person I wanted to be)
If you think your graduating senior might want to do this for someone who has impacted them along the way, please email Mr. Greene, Dean of Students, at egreene@wcpss.net
Senior Survey
The Senior Survey needs to be completed by every senior in the class of 2018. The information provided in the survey is used by the Student Services office for sending final transcripts and tracking the plans for seniors once they leave high school. A link for the Senior Survey is posted on the main section of the school’s website. Seniors can complete this survey at any time through their phone, tablet or computer. Thanks for your help in getting your senior to complete this survey.
