A.B. Combs families,
We are so grateful to every one of you for your continued partnership this school year. We have made many wonderful school memories and our students should be proud of all they have accomplished. I hope our students take time this summer to rest and relax and keep their minds working. Read a book, play outside, and make the best memories that only summer has to offer.
This is our last weekly message for this school year. If you are returning to us for the 2025-26 school year, you will hear from us again in mid-August. Please continue to follow our school website and social media happenings on Facebook and Instagram for up to date information. Our teachers do not work during the summer months, so we will reach out in the middle of August with back to school information.
Our front office will be open during the summer months from 8am-3pm. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance.
Report Cards: Your child’s report card was sent home on Friday. There were also other important pieces of information shared including the Supply List of items that students will need in August.
Mark your calendar: We will host Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 21st from 4-5:30pm. Back to school information will be available on our school website around mid August.
Volunteer Renewal: Families who were approved to volunteer in the 2024-25 school year will receive an email soon outlining the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2025-26 school year. Volunteer renewal process opens July 1st
EOG Scores: All EOG scores will be included in students’ report cards. For the 2024-2025 school year, students in 5th grade will get their science test scores later than usual. This delay is because the state is using a new test. When this happens, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction needs extra time to decide how to score the test and what scores match each level (Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5). This happens whenever the science curriculum changes.
Supply Lists for 2025-26: Thanks to our partnership with our PTA and 1st Day School Supplies, you can preorder your child’s school supplies for the next school year and boxes will be shipped to your home. This includes all items requested by our teachers on the grade-level supply list for the 2025-26 school year and you must order by July 1. Everything is 100% teacher-approved and guaranteed to be delivered on time! Order here: http://1stdayschoolsupplies.com/gs/76638
Summer Sun Bucks Food Program: SUN Bucks will provide grocery-buying benefits to qualifying families with school-aged children during the summer months. Benefits can be used to buy healthy food at places like grocery stores, farmers markets, and some online retailers. Some families will have to apply for the SUN Bucks program, but many students will automatically qualify for the program. Children will automatically qualify if they already participate in any of the following programs:
- Free or Reduced-Price (FRP) meals at school because they have an approved FRP application at school, or
- Food and Nutrition Services (FNS, food stamps), or
- Work First (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), cash assistance), or
- Medicaid with household income below 185% of the federal poverty level, or
- Foster care.
- More information is available HERE
Summer Resources: Please feel free to utilize this Wake County Crisis Resource List. Summer can be a time of joy and rest, but for some, it may also bring unexpected challenges. This resource provides essential contacts and support that families can rely on should the need arise during the break.
