A.B. Combs families,

 

We look forward to beginning our End of Grade assessments this coming week.  This is a reminder that if your child comes to school after 8:30, testing will most likely have already started and students will have to make up their EOG at another time.  Remind your child that the End-of-Grade assessment is just one way to show what they’ve learned—one test doesn’t define all the amazing growth and accomplishments they’ve made this year!

Lost and Found:  Our lost and found continues to grow and includes water bottles, jackets, and sweatshirts.  Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year.

 

Bus times at End of the Year:  Our buses are part of a tiered bus service that aligns with Athens Drive High School.  During high school exams, our buses will arrive at Combs earlier at dismissal and therefore will be dropping off earlier in the afternoons.  Please plan to arrive early at your child’s bus stop from June 9-13.  Thank you for your proactive planning for this schedule change.

 

3rd-5th grade Retaking EOGs:  Students in Grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will take the EOG State Test at the end of this school year.  Should your child meet the criteria for our EOG Remediation and Readministration program you will receive an invitation for your child to attend the program after the EOG testing window closes.  For your planning purposes, the program dates for the end of the school year are June 16th and 17th. Transportation will be provided, and breakfast and lunch will be available.

 

Yearbooks:  Please submit payment $17 to purchase a yearbook.  You can either send in cash or a check made payable to Strawbridge.   If you are not interested in a yearbook, please return it or make a payment to your child’s teacher ASAP.

 

Senior Walk: Please help us spread the word!  Combs has a tradition of welcoming back high school seniors who are Combs alum for a Senior Walk school-wide clapout.  It will be held on Friday, June 6th at 1:30pm.  Thank you for sharing with any former gators you may know.

 

5th grade graduation:  We will host our 5th grade graduation on Thursday, June 12th at 9am at the school amphitheater.  Families are asked to bring their own lawn chairs to enjoy this outdoor event.  In the event of rain, graduation will be moved to the school gym and each student will be allotted 2 tickets for guests to attend.

 

Students not returning for next year: It’s hard to believe, but we are in the beginning stages of preparing for the next school year.  Our teacher allotments depend on the number of students we have registered.  If you know your child will not be returning to Combs for the next school year, please email our data manager, Ms. Sarah Ferrell, at sferrell2@wcpss.net.

Summer Playdates:  PTA is organizing summer play dates for rising kindergarten and current Combs students.  There is also an opportunity to attend a Salamanders baseball game with other Combs families.  See the flyer for dates and details.
