Our Night of the Arts and school-wide Silver Tray Luncheon were a huge success this past week.  Thank you for your ongoing partnership to support our student leaders.  We look forward to seeing our Combs families at our Celebrate Success event this coming Friday, May 23rd.

Field Day:  Field Day is tomorrow, May 19th!  Students must wear sneakers (no slip-on shoes), bring a water bottle, wear athletic wear, and sunscreen must be applied at home.  Volunteers are needed for specific grade level times listed in the sign up genius.  We hope you can join us!

 

Interims: Interims were sent home with students on Friday.  If you have specific questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

 

3rd-5th grade Retaking EOGs:  Students in Grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will take the EOG State Test at the end of this school year.  Should your child meet the criteria for our EOG Remediation and Readministration program you will receive an invitation for your child to attend the program after the EOG testing window closes.  For your planning purposes, the program dates for the end of the school year are June 16th and 17th. Transportation will be provided, and breakfast and lunch will be available.

 

Yearbooks: Yearbooks were sent home last week.  Please submit payment $17 to purchase a yearbook.  You can either send in cash or a check made payable to Strawbridge.   If you are not interested in a yearbook, please return it or make a payment to your child’s teacher by May 30th.

 

Celebrate Success/Student-Led Conferences:  Please join us on Friday, May 23rd to celebrate our many accomplishments of the school year. We will share data, our data tracking, and awards with one another! Student Led Conferences will take place on Friday, May 23rd, at the specified times below in students’ classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!

• 1st grade: 11:15-11:45
• 2nd grade: 1:45-2:15
• 3rd grade: 11:45-12:15
• 4th grade: 9:45- 10:15
• 5th grade: 11:30-12:00

 

Senior Walk: Please help us spread the word!  Combs has a tradition of welcoming back high school seniors who are Combs alum for a Senior Walk school-wide clapout.  It will be held on Friday, June 6th at 1:30pm.  Thank you for sharing with any former gators you may know.

 

5th grade graduation:  We will host our 5th grade graduation on Thursday, June 12th at 9am at the school amphitheater.  Families are asked to bring their own lawn chairs to enjoy this outdoor event.  In the event of rain, graduation will be moved to the school gym and each student will be allotted 2 tickets for guests to attend.

 

Students not returning for next year: It’s hard to believe, but we are in the beginning stages of preparing for the next school year.  Our teacher allotments depend on the number of students we have registered.  If you know your child will not be returning to Combs for the next school year, please email our data manager, Ms. Sarah Ferrell, at sferrell2@wcpss.net.

Volunteers for Glow Party: A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped us reach our goal during the Basket Raffle and Silent Auction! We are excited to celebrate with another glow party for the kids and could use some volunteers to help make it a success!  Glow Party is planned for Thursday, May 29th and you can sign up here to volunteer.

Summer Playdates:  PTA is organizing summer play dates for rising kindergarten and current Combs students.  There is also an opportunity to attend a Salamanders baseball game with other Combs families.  See the flyer for dates and details.
