We are so proud of our Combs Robotics Team for representing our school last weekend at the WCPSS Robotics competition.  Special congratulations to 2nd grader, Landis, who placed 3rd in the K-2 division at the NC State Level Math Fair.

 

Based on feedback, the new information below is listed in green, and the repeated information is listed in blue.

 

Teacher Appreciation Week:  Combs PTA has organized Teacher Appreciation Week during the week of May 5th-9th.  Activities are planned to recognize our great teachers and staff at Combs.   

 

Field Day:  Due to rain and wet conditions, Field Day has been rescheduled to Friday, May 9th.  Students must wear sneakers (no slip-on shoes), bring a water bottle, wear athletic wear, and sunscreen must be applied at home.  Volunteers are needed for specific grade level times listed in the sign up genius.  If you had previously signed up and are now not able to make it, please update your availability on the sign up genius.  We hope you can join us!

 

Panorama Survey: Help us make your child’s school experience as positive and beneficial as possible by giving honest, thoughtful responses to the questions in our family survey from April 7 - May 16. This is a district-led survey provided to all families and we welcome your feedback.

 

Pancakes and Pajamas:  We invite families to join their child for Pancakes and Pajamas! Please come dressed in your favorite pajamas to enjoy this special breakfast. Last names A-L are welcome to come to breakfast on Thursday, May 8th, and last names M-Z on Friday, May 9th. Breakfast will be available from 7:45-8:30 am, and families are asked to bring cash or check!  Our cafeteria does not take debit or credit cards.

 

Night of the Arts: Our Night of the Arts will be May 13th beginning at 5pm. Take a look at the times for each group performance.  Artwork from every student will be on display throughout our building. Please join us to celebrate our leaders in so many different ways!

 

Silver Tray Luncheon: We will celebrate AB Combs Day on May 16th with a school-wide Silver Tray Luncheon. The cafeteria will be adorned with tablecloths and centerpieces, and the orchestra from Enloe HS will be playing during lunches. Just like a typical day, students will be able to bring their lunch from home or buy lunch from the cafeteria.  We need volunteers to help on May 16th to set tables and prepare for various classes.  

 

Celebrate Success/Student-Led Conferences:  Please join us on Friday, May 23rd to celebrate our many accomplishments of the school year. We will share data, our data tracking, and awards with one another! Student Led Conferences will take place on Friday, May 23rd, at the specified times below in students’ classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!

• 1st grade: 11:15-11:45
• 2nd grade: 1:45-2:15
• 3rd grade: 11:45-12:15
• 4th grade: 9:45- 10:15
• 5th grade: 11:30-12:00

Senior Walk: Please help us spread the word!  Combs has a tradition of welcoming back high school seniors who are Combs alum for a Senior Walk school-wide clapout.  It will be held on Friday, June 6th at 1:30pm.  Thank you for sharing with any former gators you may know.

 

Students not returning for next year: It’s hard to believe, but we are in the beginning stages of preparing for the next school year.  Our teacher allotments depend on the number of students we have registered.  If you know your child will not be returning to Combs for the next school year, please email our data manager, Ms. Sarah Ferrell, at sferrell2@wcpss.net.
