A.B. Combs families,

 

We had an amazing Leadership Day on Friday!  We welcomed guest educators from all over the country to learn about our leadership model.  Most importantly, it is an authentic opportunity for our students to practice their leadership skills.  It was such an honor to see our students embody all the leadership qualities we try to instill on a daily basis.

 

Based on feedback, the new information below is listed in green, and the repeated information is listed in blue.

 

Exciting news:  This past week, the WCPSS school board named our administrative intern, Mr. Christopher Harmon, the new Assistant Principal at Penny Road Elementary.  Mr. Harmon’s last day at Combs will be on Tuesday, April 29th.  Please join me in thanking Mr. Harmon for a wonderful year with us at Combs and wishing him all the best in his new role.

 

Students not returning for next year: It’s hard to believe, but we are in the beginning stages of preparing for the next school year.  Our teacher allotments depend on the number of students we have registered.  If you know your child will not be returning to Combs for the next school year, please email our data manager, Ms. Sarah Ferrell, at sferrell2@wcpss.net.  

 

Field Day:  Our annual Field Day is on Monday, May 5th.  Students must wear sneakers (no slip-on shoes), bring a water bottle, wear athletic wear, and sunscreen must be applied at home.  Volunteers are needed for specific grade level times listed in the sign up genius.  We hope you can join us!

 

Pancakes and Pajamas:  We invite families to join their child for Pancakes and Pajamas! Please come dressed in your favorite pajamas to enjoy this special breakfast. Last names A-L are welcome to come to breakfast on Thursday, May 8th, and last names M-Z on Friday, May 9th. Breakfast will be available from 7:45-8:30 am, and families are asked to bring cash or check!  Our cafeteria does not take debit or credit cards.

 

Celebrate Success/Student-Led Conferences:  Please join us on Friday, May 23rd to celebrate our many accomplishments of the school year. We will share data, our data tracking, and awards with one another! Student Led Conferences will take place on Friday, May 23rd, at the specified times below in students’ classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!

• 2nd grade: 1:45-2:15
• 3rd grade: 11:45-12:15
• 4th grade: 9:45- 10:15
• 5th grade: 11:30-12:00

 

Panorama Survey: Help us make your child’s school experience as positive and beneficial as possible by giving honest, thoughtful responses to the questions in our family survey from April 7 - May 16. This is a district-led survey provided to all families and we welcome your feedback.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9th!   Please sign up to donate snacks and drinks for the teacher's lounge if you are able to contribute.  Sign up can be found here.   Drop off is requested during morning carpool on Thursday, May 1st.  Thank you for your support! 

Volunteers for Art Show:  We are also looking for volunteers to help prepare for the upcoming Art Show.  We need volunteers on a variety of days, and you can view the sign-up here.
