Dear A.B. Combs families,

This coming week is a short week.  We will only be in school on Monday and Tuesday.

There will be no school Wednesday-Friday due to Thanksgiving Break.  School will resume on Monday, November 28th.

Combs Food Drive: Help us give back to our community friend, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.  They support our school with the Backpack Buddy program and we are collecting canned/pre packaged goods beginning Monday, November 21st through December 2nd.

Glow Party: This Tuesday, November 22nd each grade level will be able to experience a “Glow Party” in the school gym since we met and exceeded our fundraising goal with the Gator Gallop!  We can’t wait for this fun event.

Inaugural Ball: Please mark your calendars for our annual Inaugural Ball.  All families are invited to attend this memorable event to celebrate the inauguration of our student body president, Lighthouse team members, and class representatives.  It will be held outdoors and families are invited to join us at the school track at 9:15 on Thursday, December 1st.  There is a rain date of Friday, December 2nd.  Families are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy this event.

Spelling Bee: It is time for the AB Combs Spelling Bee for grades 1st-5th.  If you are interesteded in allowing your child to participate, please contact your child’s teacher to receive the spelling lists to study.  Classroom spelling bees will be held the week of November 28th.  Top winners will then progress to the grade level spelling bee and then the final spelling bee will be held after the Winter Break.  If you have any questions, please reach out to our PTA spelling bee coordinator Trista Vandevenne at

Science Fair: Please save the date for our annual Combs Science Fair and family STEM Night on Thursday, January 19th.  Participation in the Science Fair is optional for Kindergarten - 4th grade.  It is required for our 5th graders this year.  Registration will open on Monday, November 28th and will close on Tuesday, December 20th.  You will find the registration link and other important information about this year's Science Fair on our school website under the  Academics and Programs tab beginning November 28th.  All students will be learning about the Science Fair and learning how to conduct a scientific investigation during their Imagineering Team 8 to help encourage participation and build excitement for this Combs tradition.

Clothes needed: Our front office keeps extra clothes on hand for students in the event of an emergency.  If you have any children’s clothing (sizes 5-14) that you are willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate it.  Clothing items can be dropped off in the front office.

Report Cards: Report cards were sent home on Friday, November 18th.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you should have any questions.

Gator Giving: Are you interested in helping any of our Combs students this holiday season?  Our PTA is coordinating our Gator Giving community outreach and you can find out more information here.

Magnet Tours: Do you know families that would like to tour our school for the 2023-24 school year?  Our magnet tours are underway and interested families can sign up on our school website.
