October 1, 2021

Hello A.B. Combs families,

Thank you to all families that joined us for our first Coffee Talk.  We hope to continue to offer these throughout the year and the presentation from this event can be found here.

Please review the information below for your weekly Combs update.

Walk to School Day: We will still be celebrating Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 6th, but in a different format.  Please review this flyer sent home in your child’s Friday folder. Even though we will not be able to have families join us on campus, you can still support us in three ways: 1) Remind your child(ren) to wear sneakers on Wednesday.  2) As a family, commit to walking or biking for at least 10 minutes during the week of Oct. 4-8, and 3) Ask your child what he/she did to celebrate Walk to School Day.

Yearbook Contest: We are looking for our wonderful leaders in art!  The deadline for students to submit drawings for the cover of the 2021-22 yearbook is October 22nd.  More information about the Yearbook Cover Contest can be found here.

Before School Care: We are providing Before School Care for interested families here at Combs.  If students are registered for before school care, they may be dropped off anywhere from 7am-7:50am.  Pricing and information can be found here.

Volunteer Registration: While we are not able to welcome volunteers in our school at this time, we would like to be proactive and have interested families complete the required volunteer registration.   If you are interested in volunteering at any event or field trip, you must complete the volunteer registration at a WCPSS facility by October 29th.  We will have a computer available in the front office to complete this process.

What to do if your child is sick: If your child shows any of the following symptoms, your child will need to stay home.  If your child is sick at home with these symptoms they may not return to school unless they receive a negative PCR covid test, or an alternate diagnosis from a doctor, or 10 days quarantine at home. These symptoms include: shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.  As always, everyone must be fever free and feeling well for 24 hours prior to returning.
