Weekly Update - 9/6/2020

Opening of school information:  https://www.wcpss.net/EGMMS2021SchoolYear

Good evening East Garner Magnet Middle School Families, this is Jimmy Sposato, the proud principal of the Trojans reaching with the Weekly Update. This week felt like we are getting back to a better normal with our schedule being more consistent and predictable. Remember that Monday is Labor Day and school will be closed. We will pick back up on Tuesday, and will hold B Day electives.

We begin each day in homeroom at 8:15am. We are taking attendance in homeroom so we ask that scholars be there and be on time. Scholars will attend each core class each day and alternate electives on an A/B day schedule. Each period will consist of about 25-30 minutes of instruction from the teacher and about 25-30 minutes of work time. The teacher will stay online to answer your questions and support your learning during the work time. We want scholars to have equitable access to an expert while doing their work as opposed to struggling in isolation or asking parents/siblings to be the teacher.

September is EGMMS PTSA Membership Month and now is a great time to join! We are celebrating our members all month long with drawings for give-aways each Friday! Your PTSA Board Members are planning for a great school year filled with activities and events to engage our community and promote inclusion, celebration, and collaboration during these times that are unlike anything we've ever seen! But, we need your help to achieve all of our goals! If we all pitch in to do a little, we can accomplish a whole lot! Please visit our PTSA Web Page for details on how to join by mail (https://www.wcpss.net/domain/5327) or the EGMMS Store to join online (https://egmms.new.memberhub.store).
