Weekly Message 1/19/20

Good afternoon East Garner Magnet Middle School Families, this is Jimmy Sposato, the proud principal of the Trojans calling with the weekly update. There is no school tomorrow to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Tuesday is a B day.

Winter Wonderland dance is this Friday, 1/24, 6pm - 8:30! Sweet Southern Snoballs will be selling treats at the dance, and PTSA will have other snacks available for purchase. Tickets are $5 and will be available for sale during lunch Wed - Fri. for eligible students (Students with no more than 10 tardies, passing all core subjects and no significant behavior issues).  We'll also be taking orders for EGMMS shirts, hoodies, and car magnets at this time! Parents, if you are interested in helping and can volunteer any time, please email Thank you!

Parents, if you've ever dropped off or picked up your student from a dance, you know the line of cars is impressive! Please consider carpooling, if you can! Either way, we'll have the smoothest drive-thru system possible in place!)

8th Grade Parents- Please mark your calendars for 2 very important events for rising 9th graders (current 8th graders) in the month of February!

  • On Thursday, February 13 from 6-8pm, there will be a high school registration meeting for rising 9th graders (current 8th graders) and their parents/guardians here at EGMMS in the auditorium.  There is a link on our school's main page to RSVP. You can also RSVP by calling Mrs. Hawkins, 8th grade counselor, at the school. An interpreter will also be available for our Spanish-speaking families.  Please come out to EGMMS on Thursday, February 13 to learn about the registration process for high school and to gain information that will help your student and you successfully transition to high school. Students will be given a flyer with this information to bring home to share with you.

  • Your 8th grade student will receive a flyer with the date and time of your high school's rising 9th grade curriculum fair.  This is an opportunity to gain important information about high school course information and to familiarize yourself with your student's high school before the 20-21 school year begins in August. Please plan on attending this important event at the high school your student will attend next school year.  For more information, please contact Mrs. Hawkins, 8th grade counselor, at the school.

Basketball is home Tuesday and Thursday. Student tickets will be sold during lunch to eligible students. Admission is $5 and the games begin at 4:00pm.

Have a great day!
