Principal's Weekly Message

Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,

I hope that everyone had wonderful first week of Semester 2. The students did a great job of acclimating to their new schedules and jumping into their new courses.

Below are some important updates and reminders for your calendars.

Cary Chamber’s 2023 Honor A Teacher!

Excellence in teaching – we know it when we see it. It can be the teacher who spends extra time with the students who need it most, or the teacher who is creative enough to inspire a real love of learning in a student. Whatever their methods, certain teachers make a real impact on students and their learning abilities.

The Cary Chamber of Commerce has been a leader in supporting education in our community through numerous programs and activities, and has created a program to celebrate and honor one special teacher from each school: “Honor a Teacher Program”.

We are asking our community to nominate teachers for this award. Included with your nomination, please describe why you feel this particular teacher deserves this award. Nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, February 17 at 5:00pm.

Here is the link to the nomination form: https://forms.gle/73dpXwsWGcNqh2HX7

These nominations will then be narrowed down to finalists that will be interviewed by a designated committee. If you have any questions, please email Kelcey Ashworth, Vice President of Education & Member Business Services, at kashworth@carychamber.com.

Health and Wellness Webinar: Cell Phone Addiction and Digital Health

The APSF is excited to announce that they will be hosting a Health & Wellness webinar on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 pm. They have partnered with WakeMed to bring relevant and helpful information to parents and caregivers. The topic is:

Cell Phone Addiction and Digital Health: Practical strategies for a healthier connection to phones, technology and social media

“More and more, kids are living their lives in front of a screen. Numerous studies have shown that tech dependence has clinically significant physical and psychological effects on youth. Addiction to technology is real and is considered by experts to be a driver of the mental health crisis we see impacting youth today.  Tabby Moore, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist with Triangle Springs Hospital, will examine the diagnosis of tech addiction. Moore will provide guidance, tools and resources to help parents navigate what often seems to be the subject of daily battles at home."

Affiliation with Apex-area schools is not required, webinar is open to all. Spanish translation will be provided.

Registration is required in order to receive a Zoom link.  Click Here to register

Information from Student Services:

Seniors: Please report scholarships to Student Services!

Senior and senior families, we want to recognize seniors who have been awarded scholarships this year and include them on our Senior Scholarship Listing.  Please take a picture of the scholarship letters that you have received and email to Mrs. Mercado in Student Services at dmercado@wcpss.net.  Last year’s seniors received over $8 million in scholarships and we know the Class of 2023 will represent just as well!
