Principal's Weekly Message

Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,

I hope that everyone had a successful finish to the First Semester. Believe it or not, tomorrow we are starting the Second Semester!

To that end, a few reminders for your students for the week. Tomorrow, students will report to their first semester, first period class. There they will receive their official second semester schedule. We wil make an announcement around 7:30, and they will then transition to their new first period class and follow the new schedule the remainder of the day.  New semester means new lunch assignments, so all students should plan to report to their 3rd block class, where their teacher will share whether they have A or B lunch.  Lastly, just a reminder that the only students who may go off-campus for lunch are those juniors and seniors who have completed the lunch pass application. (If they did it for the first semester, they do not need to complete it again.) Also, save the date for our Semester 2 "Meet the Teacher" event, which will be virtual on February 9th. More information coming in next week's message, but the time frame will be 6:00-7:15pm.

Below are a few additional updates and reminders for your calendars.

Information & Reminders:

Final Fall Semester Edition of the Student Newspaper: Check it out!

Our student newspaper class and advisor were thrilled to get one final issue (Issue 7) published before the first semester ended. Click on the link to see our student work in virtual “print”.

Issue 7 :   This issue includes a WELCOME TO THE CREEK article for Coach Eason, along with a preview of the next semester, a spotlight on our Swim & Dive team, among others.

Check Out Process Reminders:

Parents, please remember it is important that we follow the process of checking students out of school for their safety.  When checking out your student please park in visitors parking and enter the front office.  Once in the front office, report to the attendance window where Ms. Brown will assist you.  (You will need to show id.)

If your student is going to drive themselves to their appointment, the parent must provide a written note and the student must present it to the attendance clerk in order to check out.  Students should not be leaving campus for appointments without checking out in the front office.

Senior Slideshow - We have extended the deadline to January 31st.  Please submit if you have not already!

This year we will be creating a senior slideshow with pictures submitted by Seniors and their families.  We are asking all seniors to complete the form linked below sharing 3 pictures (per senior) that represent them and their time in school or at MCHS or growing up.  These pictures must be school appropriate, as the slide show will be created and shared with seniors as part of a celebration activity towards the end of the year.  If you have questions, please contact lmegronigle@wcpss.net. The last date to complete the form will be January 31st.  This information will also be sent to all seniors via their wcpss email address.

Seniors: Please report scholarships to Student Services!

Senior and senior families, we want to recognize seniors who have been awarded scholarships this year and include them on our Senior Scholarship Listing.  Please take a picture of the scholarship letters that you have received and email to Mrs. Mercado in Student Services at dmercado@wcpss.net.  Last year’s seniors received over $8 million in scholarships and we know the Class of 2023 will represent just as well!
