Principal's Weekly Message

Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  This weekend I am officially beginning my weekly principal email messages, and I want to welcome all our new and 9th grade families into the MCHS school community! It is going to be a great year, and we are just a few weeks away from our first day. It is my hope that these emails provide helpful reminders and insight into what is upcoming at The Creek.  The messages will also be archived on the mainpage of the website if you need to go back and review any of the information.

Below are a few pieces of information & calendar items as we move towards the start of the year.

Information & Reminders:

Schedule Updates for School Year 22-23

Schedules for the 22-23 school year are now viewable (starting August 14).  MCHS staff has worked diligently over the summer to create schedules based on student course selections during Spring registration.  Because of this, there are limited reasons to request a schedule correction.  Please see the guidelines and instructions at this link: Schedule Correction Instructions 22-23

Have a Bus Rider for 2022-2023?

Traditional calendar bus routes will post online August 19th! Parents will receive an email from WCPSS later this week. Once routes are posted, families will be able to view detailed stop and route information in Home Base/ PowerSchool.

9th Grade Parent Meeting:

The 9th grade parent meeting was a huge success, in person and online!  Thank you to everyone who came out.  Please find the recording from the evening virtual session below and also we have linked the powerpoint.  A FAQ was compiled of questions and is also added below.

If you missed the 9th grade orientation and your student would like the chance to informally walk the building, there is an opportunity on August 22nd from 11:00-1:00pm.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications:

Please know that beginning with the 2022 – 2023 school year, full-paid Breakfast will be $1.75, and Lunch will be $3.25. Meals will still be free for the remainder of this school year for all students, but beginning next school year, only families who apply and receive Free or Reduced Price Meals will be able to receive free or reduced-price Breakfast or Lunch. To help families get started on this, the Wake County Public School System has information on their website at this link. Families will need to complete the 2022 – 2023 meal benefits application, which will be available online at www.MySchoolApps.com beginning July 1st. Paper copies will also be available for pick up at the school office beginning in July.

Start Supporting MCHS Now!

Two easy ways to start supporting the MCHS student community now are through PTSA and Stampede Club:

Join our Stampede Club:

If you have an MCHS athlete or are an athletic supporter, please consider joining the MCHS Athletics Boosters, the Stampede Club! This club plays a big role in helping with field maintenance, uniform and equipment costs and upgrades, and so much more! Please consider joining, and purchasing a Stampede Club Athletic pass, which gets you into all home (non-playoff) games for free!

Join and support the MCHS PTSA:

The MCHS PTSA supports many events and initiatives for the school’s staff and students, including Honor Roll recognition, Teacher of the Year, staff appreciation, and classroom/teacher grants. Please consider joining and supporting our PTSA!

     1)  Join the MCHS PTSA!  Although some of the money goes to the NCPTA organization, most stays in            our budget.  Individual memberships are $10; MCHS staff membership is $5; Family of 4       membership    is $25.  You can complete the membership form and pay here:

            https://mchs.memberhub.store/

     2)  Make a donation to our PTSA in addition to your membership.  At the

same link above, you can make a donation to our general budget in

          any amount.

     3) Link your Harris Teeter VIC card to the Middle Creek HS PTSA:

Thank you in advance for any contribution and support of our school. We greatly appreciate it and will certainly put it to good use for the students at MCHS.

Parking Passes:

Students still needing to obtain a parking pass for the 2022-2023 school year can find the forms on the MCHS website (under the student tab of the website). There are several steps to applying, and all pieces must be completed to receive a parking pass. Spot locations will be determined based on order of payment (with completed documents and no existing fees). If families are unable to print any of the forms, you may stop by the main office during summer hours to pick them up. If you have any questions, you may contact Ms. Sullivan at jsullivan@wcpss.net.

Lunch Passes:

There is a $10 fee to make the pass, and payments can be made via the MCHS website. Once the notarized form is completed, the final summer date is listed below for pass & photo pick-up.  (Reminder, this is a junior and senior only privilege.)

August 16: 12:00-2:00pm

*Students who are not able to attend this day for pick up, can plan to get their ID made the first week of school after school.

Seniors:

Annual 12th grade Vaccine Notice:

Attention: Parents of Rising High School Seniors- Your teen needs another vaccine! North Carolina law now requires another dose of the Meningococcal vaccine for entry into 12th grade. You may provide a copy of your record of immunization to Ms. Berry, Data Manager via email syberry@wcpss.net, or by dropping it off in the Main Office between 7:00-2:00 pm.  NC General Statute requires the immunization records with the required second dose be presented by the first day of school.
