Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,
I hope all our families are having a wonderful summer so far! To all our new families- we are excited to have you join our community and look forward to a strong start to the school year. Informational emails will be coming periodically throughout the remainder of the summer, and we will begin with the weekly principal emails starting mid-August.
Though we are still weeks away from student and staff return, I wanted to provide you some initial information and calendar dates to help you prepare.
Important Information & Reminders:
Schedule Updates for School Year 22-23
Our MCHS Scheduling team is hard at work getting student schedules ready for the start of the school year. In the off-chance that students can see a schedule in powerschool at any time during July and early August, please know that this schedule is NOT FINALIZED and has a high likelihood of changing. We will announce via the MCHS website when schedules are finalized and students can view them in Power Schools. There will be an opportunity also announced for students to request a schedule correction based on very specific criteria. Please stay tuned!
9th Grade Student Orientation:
MCHS Staff is underway with plans for our Freshman Orientation! Our 9th Grade Students should “Save the Date” for August 11th! More details will be forthcoming, but this orientation will include information about resources, the start of school, and include a school tour. There will also be an opportunity to buy MCHS gear. Exact times and session specifics will be coming soon.
Summer Office Hours:
Over the summer, Middle Creek High School’s main office will still be open to service any student and/or family needs. Summer hours are slightly different, and our office will be open Monday through Friday 7:00-2:00pm. Also, there is only limited staff on-campus over the summer so it is a good idea to call ahead to make sure we are able to support you.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications:
Please know that beginning with the 2022 – 2023 school year, full-paid Breakfast will be $1.75, and Lunch will be $3.25. While meals last year were free for all students, beginning this school year, only families who apply and receive Free or Reduced Price Meals will be able to receive free or reduced-price Breakfast or Lunch. To help families get started on this, the Wake County Public School System has information on their website at this link. Paper copies will also be available for pick up at the school office beginning in July.
Juniors & Seniors:
As we prepare for the school year, it is now time to make plans for parking and off-campus lunch, as well as other privileges & events offered to our juniors and seniors. Below are some specific details about dues, parking and lunch passes.
As we gear up for the school year, it is important that our junior and senior class students are reminded of class dues to support grade level activities and functions.
Junior dues cover events such as prom (including the student’s tickets to both Junior and senior prom). Senior dues cover events such as the senior picnic, graduation, and senior year prom ticket.
Below are the dues for each class, and families will have the opportunity to begin making payments on July 18th in the OSP system linked on the website.
Class of 2023- $40 (Senior Dues)
Class of 2024- $40 (Junior Dues)
Forms can be found on the MCHS website (under the student tab) starting Friday, July 15th. The LIVE link on the MCHS website to pay for the parking and lunch passes will be made available on Monday, July 18th at 12:00am. There are several steps to applying, and all pieces must be completed to receive a parking pass. Spot locations will be determined based on order of payment (with completed documents and no existing fees). If families are unable to print any of the forms, you may stop by the main office during summer hours to pick them up. If you have any questions, you may contact Ms. Sullivan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Forms for lunch passes can be completed starting July 18th. There is a $10 fee to make the pass, and payments can be made via the MCHS website. Once the notarized form is completed, the dates below are listed for pass & photo pick-up. (Reminder, this is a junior and senior only privilege.)
August 9th: 8:30-11:00am; 12:00-2:00pm.
August 10th: 8:30-11:00am; 12:00-2:00pm.
August 16: 12:00-2:00pm.
Fall Sports Tryouts and Preparation:
FALL Sports begin TRYOUTS on August 1 - Prospective Student Athletes should contact their sport specific coach if they are interested in trying out! Athletes have to be cleared in Dragonfly before they can tryout! Here are a few good links if you need more info:
https://www.dragonflymax.com/ - make sure ALL forms are completely filled out and the 2 forms that must be signed by the Dr. have the signature, stamp, and date on the forms. Registering takes about 30 minutes and you will need to upload the 2 forms that the Dr. signs. Everything else is electronically signed. Be sure to use full names in places it asks for signatures!
RENT A MUSTANG PROGRAM:
If you have a student athlete and are interested in learning more about the “RENT A MUSTANG” program, visit the link below. This is a fundraiser sponsored by our Stampede Club and benefits our sports teams. If anyone has questions, they can contact Ms. Downen at email@example.com.
That concludes our first round of Summer updates and reminders. We will be back in touch with our families periodically throughout July. I hope you have a great week!
