Principal's Weekly Message

Good evening Middle Creek High School families, 

 

I hope everyone had another great week. As we head into mid-February, we have some important information and updates to share, as detailed below. Thank you so much for your attention to this information. 

 

Information & Reminders: 

MCHS 2022-2023 Curriculum & Registration Information: 

Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about course registration for the 2022-2023 school year! Next week we will be sharing lots of important information about various classes (core & electives) and the registration process for our families. Recorded information will be shared on Monday, February 14th and we will host an in-person event on Thursday. Please review the Curriculum Night Flyer for details!

On-Campus Information Event: February 17th!

Rising 9th grade: 6:00-6:45

Rising 10th-12th: 6:45-7:30

 

End of Course Test Individual Student Reports

If your student participated in an End of Course test at the conclusion of Semester 1, scores are available on the PowerSchool website. End of Course tests are required for English 2, Math 1, Math 3, and Biology. To view electronic copies of the score report, log in to PowerSchool (https://wcpss.powerschool.com/public) and click on State Test Reports in the lower left side of the menu.

Please note, the reports will only be viewable in the web-based version of PowerSchool. They are currently not

If you have trouble accessing the score report in PowerSchool, your student can see Mrs. Mercado in Student Services for a printed copy.



ACT: All Juniors:

All Juniors will participate in the ACT on Tuesday, March 1. Testing will begin promptly at 7:25. On test day, all students should bring:

  1. Photo ID

  2. Sharpened #2 Pencils

  3. An ACT Approved Calculator

Detailed information about taking the ACT can be found here. There will be an information session for all students on Tuesday, February 22. During that session, students will learn their specific testing location, complete demographic information on their answer documents, and create a MyACT account. ACT preparation materials can be found here.

New bus drivers start at $16.20 an hour or more based on years of experience and are eligible for a $1200 recruitment bonus. Want to learn more? Attend a virtual information session on Feb. 15, 17, 22 or 24 to hear more about about the job, schedule, and benefits. Register for a session today and learn more at wcpss.net/busjobs. If each school community can help us find even 1 person to to serve as a driver, we would meet 150 bus drivers still needed for the district routes!

 

Information from Student Services:

Senior Scholarship Information - State Employees Credit Union Scholarship

MCHS posts scholarships we are made aware of in the MCHS Scholarship Listing page.  This week the State Employees Credit Union People Helping People Scholarship was added.  Any student who is a member or whose parents are a member of the SECU is eligible to apply for this $10,000 scholarship aimed at students who have a passion for bettering their community and plan to enroll in a college that is a member of the UNC system.  Please make sure to read the SECU Scholarship instructions for applying carefully.  Applications for MCHS nominees are due by February 18, 2022.

 

Career and College Promise Interest Meeting

The Career and College Promise Program allows eligible high school students to take classes at community colleges for free while they are enrolled in high school.  This program is best suited for rising juniors and seniors and students must have a 2.8 unweighted GPA to participate.  Students who are interested in taking a class at Wake Tech through CCP for the first time during the summer or fall of 2022 should sign up to attend the CCP Interest Meeting on March 11 during blocks 1 or 4.  More information and sign up are found at: https://bit.ly/mchs-ccp
