Principal's Weekly Message
Good evening Middle Creek High School families,
It was wonderful to have our students back on campus this week after Winter Break. We appreciate your ongoing support as we navigate this school year and head into the last week of the semester. We are entering Final Exam week and I hope that the following information is helpful to you and your students as you prepare for the turn of the semester.
Information & Reminders:
Health and Safety Reminders:
Please help us by reminding your students the importance of appropriate mask wearing and frequent hand washing or sanitizing throughout the school day. We appreciate everyone’s adherence to the safety and health guidance and your support in trying to keep all our students and staff healthy and on-campus!
Also, please continue to monitor your student’s health and symptoms and PLEASE keep students home if they are not feeling well or exhibit any symptoms.
Should you have to report a positive case of covid-19 for your student, please email Ms. Megronigle at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the main office number and you will be directed to the correct voicemail.
Final Exam Information:
Final exams for first semester classes will be held on-campus this week, January 10th-14th. Students will be taking either teacher-made exams or a state-mandated exam (CTE or EOC courses). Reminder, that final exam participation is required unless you have are a 12th grader that has earned exemption status for a particular course. Final exams will count for 20% of the final course grade.
The schedule for final exams is provided below. Each day students will have one exam, time for lunch, and then have scheduled time to review for an upcoming exam or complete other work. Bus transportation will run as normal.
Most students will not report to campus on Friday, unless they have to make-up an exam missed earlier in the week.
If a student would like to be dismissed and picked up prior to the study hall, parents may approve that option. Below is the permission form that must completed and signed in order for a student to be dismissed after their exam period (11:30). Students will need to turn this permission form in to their teacher on the day of each exam. Students who are planning to take advantage of early dismissal must leave campus at the end of the exam period and may not come back to campus unless they have an athletic practice or extracurricular activity.
Action needed by 1/21: Meal benefits applications:
Parents, please consider applying for meal benefits as soon as possible, if eligible. By submitting a qualifying application, families will also support the district in qualifying for additional funds to support students and learning! Also, the NC Department of Health & Human Services is collecting student free and reduced lunch and attendance data from WCPSS to determine any additional Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) that will be issued in the coming months! By not applying for these meal benefits, you will miss the potential opportunity to receive direct P-EBT funds for your family!
Yes, meals will still be free for all students through June 2022 but we still need you to complete a meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for this extra education funding next school year. Also, this ensures your student is covered for the first few weeks of school next year. Information about applying for Meal Benefits can be found at www.wcpss.net/meals. Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper applications can be requested by calling 919-588-3535.
