Principal's Weekly Message
Good evening Middle Creek High School families,
I hope you have all had a wonderful week! Teachers & support staff are back in the building and we are so excited to welcome our students back on Monday! Below is information that we hope will help you feel prepared and informed for the beginning of school next week.
Important Information & Reminders:
Schedules are FINALIZED and are viewable in Powerschool. On the first day, students will report to their first period and receive an official hard copy. We ask that they make note of their first period room number and teacher so that they can transition successfully when they arrive Monday morning!
If you believe there is an issue with your student’s schedule, below is a link to the process/procedure to request a schedule change with Student Services.
We are excited to once again offer students and families the early opportunity to “meet the teacher” through our staff directory. Students are encouraged to check out the staff introduction videos via our MCHS website, “Our School” Section, in the staff directory. Most of our staff were able to record short videos, giving students a brief overview of the teacher’s class and background experience. We hope this helps our students feel less anxious and more excited for the first day. Do not worry about joining the google classrooms, as teachers will assist students with this during the school week.
Safety and School-based Guidelines:
MCHS staff continue to monitor the current WCPSS and DHHS Safe Schools Guidelines as we prepare for the start of the school year. We feel good about the processes and procedures in place to ensure maximum student safety, while still allowing for a social and authentic in-person experience. To that end, we have updated our “Return to School” Guidance document to reflect the procedures and processes that we will use to start the school year. Please keep in mind that things are always subject to change, and we will continue to update both our procedures and this document as may be needed throughout the year.
All bus routes should have been assigned via Powerschool as of August 13th. They can be found under the “transportation” tab in the students PS account. Your student should plan to be at their bus stop a few minutes early, especially the first few days, as the drivers learn new routes and traffic patterns.
All students using carpool should use the FRONT LOOP ENTRANCE to the school. Students should NOT be dropped off in the staff parking lot, by the tennis courts, or near the community center. Not only is this a safety issue, but many of those properties are not a part of MCHS and our community partners need those spaces free for their own needs/traffic. Please plan to come early, but not prior to 6:55am. Reminder, that 1st period begins at 7:25 and dismissal is at 2:18.
Student drivers may only use assigned spots in the student lot. Parking in any other areas may lead to ticketing or towing. This includes the community center, the public library or the baseball field.
Afternoon Activity Buses:
Due to bus driver shortages across the district, MCHS & WCPSS will not be offering an after school activity bus to start this school year. We will inform students and families of any changes that may come once the year begins, but for now students must have their own transportation if they choose to stay afterschool for an event or club meeting.
Want to purchase MCHS Spirit Wear?
Our Middle Creek Spirit Wear store is now open! Please visit the site linked below to make purchases between now and August 27th.
9th Grade Virtual Parent Information:
We know our families are very busy during the summer, and many were unable to attend the parent session. A recording of the session is now available on the MCHS website mainpage, linked to the green Announcement bar.
Dinner @ Manhattan’s to Support MCHS Band!
MCHS Band is hosting a restaurant spirit night on August 23 from 4-8pm at Manhattan Pizza in Holly Springs. Our band will benefit from a percentage of sales during that time. Thanks for your support!
