Summer Updates

Good evening Middle Creek High School families,

I hope you are all continuing to enjoy your summer and have some rest and relaxtion in store for the weekend. Believe it or not, August is upon us, and we are excited about the start of the 2021-2022 school year! As we enter August, you can continue to expect weekly emails from me (typically Friday or Sunday evening), with reminders and information that we will keep you all informed. This email is mostly review of of our orientation offerings and a few Athletic updates.

Thank you for your attention to these details!

Important Information & Reminders:

2021 Yearbooks:

2020-2021 Yearbooks are IN!!! If you were not able to pick up your yearbook and would still like to, MCHS staff will be having one more distribution on Monday, August 2nd from 5:30-7:00pm.   Please bring a photo ID to pick up pre-ordered books. If you did not order one, but would like to buy one, please bring a check for $75.00 made payable to Herff Jones, not MC!

Schedules:

Our MCHS Scheduling team is hard at work getting student schedules ready for the start of the school year. In the off-chance that students can see a schedule in powerschool at any time during July and early August, please know that this schedule is NOT FINALIZED and has a high likelihood of changing. Once schedules are in a finalized state, we will email students and families so that they may check it officially in powerschool.

9th Grade Student Orientation:

MCHS Staff is underway with plans for our  Freshman Orientation!

Our 9th Grade Students should “Save the Date” for August 11th! We will be splitting the freshman class into two groups to accommodate size, so please plan to attend based on your last name:

8:00-11:00 Students with Last Names that begin with:  A-La

1:00-4:00 Students with Last Names that begin with: Le-Z

This orientation will include information about resources, the start of school, and include a school tour. There will also be an opportunity to buy MCHS gear.

** The above orientation is for students only. A parent information session will be conducted virtually on the evening of August 11th, for both English-speaking parents (6:00pm.) and Spanish-speaking parents (7:00 pm), and will be recorded for those that cannot attend. Link information will be provided in a future email.

10th Grade Student (and New to MCHS) Campus Visits- Please RSVP by Aug 6th!:

Some of our returning 10th grade students, and transfer students new to Middle Creek this school year, have expressed interest in visiting the building and getting “acclimated” after such an unconventional 2021.  For that reason, we will be offering an OPTIONAL opportunity for 10th graders, and students new to MCHS to attend a group orientation on August 10th.

This is an optional opportunity, geared towards new upperclassmen and/or any 10th graders who may have been virtual in 2020-2021. Therefore, we are asking interested students  to sign up for a session on that date using the link below by August 6th.

Here is the link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C45A8AB22A1FA7-10th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Cucurullo, Assistant Principal at jcucurullo@wcpss.net.

Seniors:

Annual 12th grade Vaccine Notice:

Attention: Parents of Rising High School Seniors Your teen needs another vaccine! North Carolina law requires Meningococcal vaccine for entry into 12th grade. We still have over 200 seniors who are missing documentation of this requirement! You may provide a copy of your record of immunization to Ms. Berry, Data Manager via email syberry@wcpss.net, or by dropping it off in the Main Office between 7:00-3:00pm.
