Principal's Weekly Message
Good evening Middle Creek High School families,
It was a great last week of April here at The Creek!
Below are your weekly updates and we thank you in advance for your attention to these details.
Important Information & Reminders:
Asynchronous & Remote Learning Days for May:
This is just a reminder that the following days are determined to be asynchronous or remote learning days for students. This means there will be no live sessions on these dates and assignments will be provided by teachers asynchronously.
May 13th--->This was previously a Teacher Workday, but will now be an RL Day
*May 5th was originally an RL day, but was switch with May 13th, and now May 5th is a regular school day.
Virtual Academy for 2021-22 School Year
As you know the registration window for 2021-2022 Virtual Academy (VA) closes on Sunday, May 2 at 5:00 pm. Please continue to use this link to stay up to date with information from WCPSS. As you process this option for your family, please consider the following information:
The only courses guaranteed in VA are the required courses for graduation
We anticipate that all students who choose VA will have to make alternative course selections once we have finalized the master schedule at the end of June.
Certain courses may not be available depending on scheduling and/or student interest. Courses impacted may include certain elective offerings (including AP and performing/visual arts) or Career Academy.
Some VA courses may be taught by teachers outside of our school
If you choose VA for your family, our school will continue to update you over the next several months. In the meantime, counselors and administrators welcome the opportunity to talk with you about options and what may be best for your son/daughter.
Important AP Testing Information
As all AP Tests are online this year (except for Music Theory and Spanish), there are steps that students must take now to prepare their device for AP Testing. Please refer to the instructions at this link to make sure that your student is ready to test in May: AP Testing App Instructions. Students can test on any Mac, PC, or school-issued Chromebook (not personal Chromebooks). If your student does not have access to any of these devices, please email Mrs. Gillespie at email@example.com to arrange for your student to test using a school laptop on campus. This information was also emailed to students on Thursday, 4/15, using the email address they provided in their College Board account.
Senior Class 2020-2021 Information:
PTSA Scholarship Opportunity:
The PTSA is now accepting applications for their yearly scholarship awards. This year, the scholarship qualifications are a little bit different than in years past, and is open to anyone that has been a member any of the 4 years of their high school career. The applications are due back by 11:59 PM May 9th. The application is attached here.
While Proms are not an option this year under current WCPSS guidance, we have been hard at work coordinating activities and efforts that we hope our Seniors will enjoy. One of those is a Senior Class of 2021 Celebration/Picnic!
Please save the Date: May 16th from 6:30-8:30pm at Ting Park in Holly Springs!
We have planned a fun night for our seniors with Music, Yard Games, Senior Slide Show, Kickball and more! Also - a $10 voucher for food and drink will be provided for all students. Other food can be purchased on site by students. We look forward to celebrating our seniors!
**Thank you to all our senior families who have donated supplies to support these events!
As we continue preparations for the special senior events, this is a reminder to any of our families who have not yet paid their “Senior dues”. This $30 fee goes towards sponsoring events and gifts for our seniors, paying for Graduation and other end of year ceremonies, and even though they may look different than in a typical year, it does take money to make them as nice and special as we hope to. We promise to put each dollar to good use celebrating them and making these events as memorable as possible. You may pay by cash or check to the front office or online using the link below.
If you have questions about whether you have already paid, please call or email Ms. Costa (firstname.lastname@example.org, 919-773-3838).
That concludes my updates and reminders. I hope everyone has a great weekend! See you bright and early on Monday!
