Principal's Mid-Week Message
Good afternoon Middle Creek High School families,
I hope exam week is going well for everyone. This is a brief mid-week email to share some tips & lessons from the first few days of on-campus testing, and to share additional information in preparation for the start of second semester.
Thank you in advance for your attention to these details.
Reminders & Information for Testing:
Exam week has been going SO WELL! Students have been following all the procedures, testing has run smoothly, and we have been able to get students in and out of the building efficiently.
We only have 1 more day of testing, and then a make-up day. Below is the schedule for your reference.
For students who have an in-person exam, please be reminded that you MUST pass the health screening, and be symptom free in order to come on campus. If you are not feeling well, continue to stay home and we will work to complete a make-up test during Second Semester.
Transportation for testing:
Morning arrival has gone SO WELL! Thank you so much to all our families for your patience and positivity. A few things to point out that might help in keeping the traffic flowing:
As you approach the school, turn down/off your heaters. We have seen some temperature screenings falsely run high due to the heat within the car. To avoid having to get a second screening, try to keep the heat down (or turn it off) as you get close to school so that it doesn't affect the reading. Reminder that any student who records a temperature of over 100*F three times in a row, will be sent home and will not be able to return for the next 10 days without a doctor’s note.
Just a reminder that no students should be exiting their cars, personal vehicles, or buses prior to 6:55am. With so many responsibilities to be completed by staff at the start of the day, we cannot welcome students into the building before they are all in position. Thank you for adhering to this schedule.
Information for Second Semester:
Middle Creek staff is excited to be welcoming our Plan B students back in the building for Semester 2 next week!
We are still inputting/changing the cohort assignments within powerschool and apologize for the delay. Students will receive an email with official cohort assignments on Thursday morning. I will also send an email to parents, when the designations are correct in powerschool for you to be able to view. Some of you are seeing a Cohort label currently, but please know that is not accurate.
Plan B Students & Return to School Information:
Below we have link a “return to school” document with many details and procedures outlined. This document contains overview information for most of the movement & safety protocols that students will follow, and will be updated as needed if a process or procedures needs to change. Later this week, I will also share some videos created by our Digital Media and Student Government students to show you some of these procedures in action.
Carpool for Second Semester?
If your student will be dropped off and/or picked up via carpool second semester, please provide information to our staff using the link below.
In order to avoid crowding and congregating in the front circle each afternoon, we will be dismissing students in waves based on carpool numbers. We recognize this is something new for our students and families, but want to be as prepared and safe as possible from start to finish. Families will be assigned a carpool number that they should display in their cars at pick up, and we will get official tags to families via supply pick up or on the first day of their cohort. Office staff will begin contacting families with their official carpool number starting tomorrow. Please check your email and confirm receipt.
Interested in wrestling?
Wrestling will have an interest meeting Thursday, January 14 at 7:00pm. A wrestler and parent should attend. Information about workouts, expectation and procedures will be given. Email Coach Allen for the google meet code: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your attention to this email.
I hope you have a great rest of the week!
