Principal's Weekly Message

Greetings Middle Creek High School families, 

This is Lacey Peckham, Principal of Middle Creek HS with a weekly email update. It was a great “full” week of school here at the Creek and we are happy to be getting into a rhythm.  As we wrap up this week and get ready to head into a long weekend, I wanted to provide you some updates and key information, as well as time-sensitive Senior information to prep you for next week. 

 

Senior Class 2020-2021 Information:

Senior Class Car Parade!

We are excited to celebrate our Senior Class of 2021 next Tuesday, Sept. 8th from 3:00-5:00pm with a car parade. During this time frame we are asking all Seniors to come by the school to pick up several important items: updated transcript, Senior handbook (with important dates), information about caps, gowns, rings and announcements, and a special gift. To add to the enthusiasm we are asking seniors to get spirited and decorate their cars! This is our very first SENIOR PARADE so help us encourage our seniors to make it special! We even have a senior prize pack that will be awarded to the best decorated car. To honor current safety restrictions all seniors will be staying in their cars and those staff members distributing materials will be following social distancing and PPE protocols. 

 

Senior Information and Financial Aid Night!

On September 22nd from 6-7pm, we will be hosting Senior Information Night and Financial Aid Night.  Parents and students will follow the schedule below attending each meeting for information regarding senior year planning and activities, as well as an opportunity to learn about the financial aid process for our advisor.  The google meet codes will be sent out prior to that evening's meetings.

Need Tech Support?

Ms. Russell and Ms. Sumner, our two MCHS Media Specialists, will be available for office hours via google meet every day Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 9:30am and 1:30 to 2:30pm for technology support and assistance for you or your student.  The Google Meet Nickname code is MCHSMedia.  Or if is easier, please feel free to email them at lsumner@wcpss.net or jfrussell@wcpss.net.

 

Want to check out a library book?

We are happy to announce that our MCHS library will now be offering remote checkouts to students. If you would like a book to read or one for research you can request the book online and we will be happy to check it out to you and make it available for pickup at the school.  For complete directions see below.

Parking Passes for 2020-2021: Update!

A decision has been made that the WCPSS will waive student parking fees for the 2020-2021 school year as long as we are in plan B or plan C status.  All schools will continue with their normal registration and procedures for issuing parking tags with the exception of collecting fees.  When we move to plan A status, the district will charge the students for parking tags by prorating the costs for the remaining time left in the school year based upon the previously approved $200 fee.  Once the process/procedures have been set up for MCHS, we will let our families know. 

 

Technology Needs:

The District is diligently working to provide devices and internet hotspots to families within our community that have needs. If you are a family that has filled out the WCPSS Technology Needs Survey, you should be hearing from the District in the coming days about a pick-up time at one of the regional sites. 

If you did not complete the “needs survey”, or your needs have changed, please contact Ms. Cabral-Costa, our receptionist, at scabral-costa@wcpss.net and she can add your information to the district database.  

 

Food Security:

If you are a family in need of support during this uncertain time, WCPSS may be able to help. There are a number of food distribution sites up and running in Wake County during this closure. If you need more information, or if you are looking for ways to help, please visit the link below for information.

Drivers Eligibility Certificates:

Though the school buildings continue  to be closed, the district has approved a process for receiving Driver’s Eligibility Certificates in a safe way at each high school.  After scheduling an appointment with the DMV, you will contact our Registrar, Marilyn Marrero,  at mmarrero@wcpss.net or 919-773-3838 ext. 21927 to begin the DEC request process.  

 

Start Supporting MCHS Now!

Two easy ways to start supporting the MCHS student community now are through PTSA and Stampede Club

Also, although WCPSS Athletics are currently suspended, we do hope to have our athletes on the field/court in the coming months.  Please consider joining the Stampede Club, the MCHS Athletics Booster Club, and supporting our programs. Though games and practices have been delayed, many of the field maintenance, uniform and equipment costs are still occurring, and we could really use community support in funding these items.  Any and all support is greatly appreciated!

Join and support the MCHS PTSA:

The MCHS PTSA supports many events and initiatives for the school’s staff and students, including Honor Roll recognition, Teacher of the Year, staff appreciation, and classroom/teacher grants. Please consider joining and supporting our PTSA!

          PTA organization, most stays in our budget.  Individual memberships
