Principal's Weekly Message- Summer Edition
Greetings Middle Creek High School families,
I hope everyone had a great week and that your August is off to a great start! As get closer and closer to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, I hope you are getting as excited as we are to get the year underway, despite some of the circumstances we are facing.
This week’s email will start with an important reminder for Senior families, and then move into more general information for all students.
Senior Class 2020-2021 Information:
Vaccine Requirement for Rising Seniors!
All seniors, Plan B and Virtual Academy, need to have updated immunization records on file for their senior year and we still have many who have not turned their records in to us! There is a specific vaccine that is needed prior to senior year, and the flyer below provides details.
It is important for families to complete the requirement before school starts, as any 12th graders who do not have the documented immunization will be unable to attend----> THIS INCLUDES STUDENTS IN THE VIRTUAL ACADEMY PER STATE LAW. All updated immunization records can be scanned/photographed and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, mailed into the school, or turned in to our Student Services Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Berry at email@example.com
Remote Learning & Virtual Academy Schedule:
Attached is the Middle Creek HS Remote Learning (Plan B Transition) and Virtual Academy schedule. Because all students will be starting the year remotely, we want our students and families to have some clarity and consistency around what learning will look like each day. You will notice that it follows the typical MCHS daily bell schedule, further easing the transition into the building for Plan B students when that time comes. Students can expect “live”/synchronous instruction from their teacher during the first 45 minutes of each class period, with the remainder of the time for independent work.
The first two weeks of school, from Monday, August 17th through Friday, August 28th will be orientation weeks. The purpose of the orientation is for meet-and-greet opportunities, acclimation to resources and teacher sites, and distribution of supplies. More information about the schedule for the orientation weeks will be shared as we receive updates.
School staff is still working to meet the needs of the students in both settings, and to honor staffing restrictions and preferences. Families should anticipate that student schedules will not be finalized until August 10th at the earliest.
9th Grade Orientation:
We look forward to welcoming all our new and 9th grade families into the Middle Creek High School community. One important date we have to share now is: August 12th! All 9th grade students and a parent will have the opportunity to come by the school and pick-up schedules and information packets, on August 12th between 8-12.
2020 Yearbooks-->Another Pick-Up Opportunity:
The 2020 Yearbooks have arrived!! If your student still has not picked up their yearbook, you have one more opportunity on August 5th from 9-12.
Students/Parents may come anytime during that window and ring the bell at the main entrance to the school. You must have a photo ID or a copy of the receipt in order to pick up a yearbook and no one may pick up someone else’s yearbook.
**There are still extras, so if you come hoping to purchase a yearbook, you must have a check or money order payable to Herff Jones for 75.00, NO CASH.
Lunch & Parking Passes for 2020-2021
With the school year starting remote for all students, the sale of lunch and parking passes has been delayed. As soon as we have more information from the district, including payment amounts, we will relay it to all of our families.
That concludes my updates and reminders for the week. I hope you have a wonderful week!
