Principal's Weekly Message
Greetings Middle Creek High School families,
What an eventful and unpredictable school year we have had! As we wrap up our last official week of school, I want to thank each of you for your support this school year. It was certainly full of unexpected twists and turns, but we have really rallied as a school community to make the best of it and I appreciate the role you played in making that happen. Before officially setting you all off for the summer, I wanted to send a final 2019-2020 email, with some last reminders and pieces of information. We will be taking a short break from the weekly emails, before we pick back up in late June-early July with communications for the 2020-2021 year.
Below we have some general information for all students, then end with Senior-specific information & reminders.
Grade Information for Students 9-11:
One final reminder that students in grade 9-11 may request a numeric grade in place of the PC19/WC19 grade for Semester 2. Teachers have finalized grades in powerschool so that families are fully informed of the exact numeric grade available for Semester 2. If a family would like to choose the numeric grade instead of defaulting to the PC19/WC19, they will need to complete the Request form linked below as soon as possible.
Forms should be submitted to email@example.com or mailed into the school and they are due by Friday, June 12th at 5:00pm.
If you are unable to print the form out, feel free to email the address above with your request, and a member of the Student Services staff will get in touch to verify the information.
Once you have submitted the electronic form to the appropriate account, you should receive a response acknowledgment that states:
“We have received your form requesting numeric grades for the Spring 2020 grading period. These changes will be made over the summer and students will receive an updated transcript at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.”
If you do not receive that response, please check for it in your SPAM/Junk folder and then contact Student Services if it is not there.
Due to the circumstances of the past few months, the production and delivery of yearbooks has been delayed. They are currently finishing up production at the warehouse and will be delivered to the school in early July. As soon as they are en route to the school, we will be in touch with families about scheduling a pick up. Thank you for your patience.
Drivers Eligibility Certificates:
Though the school buildings will continue to be closed for the remainder of June, the district has approved a process for receiving Driver’s Eligibility Certificates in a safe way at each high school. After scheduling an appointment with the DMV, you will contact our Dean of Students, Ms. Gillespie at firstname.lastname@example.org to begin the DEC request process.
Senior Class Celebrations & Information:
Congratulations to all of the 2020 Graduates! You are now officially Mustang alumni!
The Middle Creek High School virtual graduation was aired today ( June 12th) at 12:00pm. and it was a beautiful event!
If you were unable to watch it live, you can still visit the link below and find it under archived videos. (All seniors will also be getting a recording of this as another gift once they are copied in late June.)
Middle Creek High School Diploma Recognition:
It was such a joy to see and celebrate our seniors at the diploma recognition ceremony! We hope all our families enjoyed these precious moments and photo opportunities as we wrapped up their high school experience.
Still need your diploma?
If you did not participate in the ceremony and still need to pick up your diploma, they will be available at the school on June 16th from 9-11.
Video Memento: As is tradition at MCHS, all seniors will be gifted with a special video at the end of the year. This will include graduation speeches, remarks from staff (the ones aired at the diploma ceremony), and a slideshow of our seniors, including future plans and thank yous. We are excited to share this with each senior once they are complete later in June!
Final Transcripts for Seniors:
Seniors attending in-state schools:
In order for final transcripts to be sent to colleges by the end of June, the Senior student must have requested their transcript to be sent via CFNC. If they did not request transcripts in the Fall because they used Common App or another application site, then they MUST request the transcript now through their CFNC account. If they do not do this, their transcript will not be received by the university and this can delay their final admission and ability to register for classes. These transcripts are sent at the same time for all NC High Schools and in-state colleges are aware of this timeline.
Seniors attending out of state schools:
We will use the school you indicated on your senior survey to send your transcript to out of state colleges by the end of June.
That concludes my updates and reminders for this last week of school. On behalf of the entire staff at Middle Creek HS, we hope you all enjoy a fantastic, and safe, summer. We look forward to seeing everyone, hopefully in person, in August!
