Digital Media brings home Gold!!!

It was an historic week for our students at the SkillsUSA National Conference in Louisville, KY.  Our students represented Middle Creek, Wake County, and the state of North Carolina at the highest level of excellence as they competed against the best from other schools across the nation.

We are extremely proud to announce for the first time in school history, we have medaled at the SkillsUSA National Conference.  We have placed students in the top 10 and even the top 5 in the country in years past, but this year we put kids on the podium for all of the nation to see (top three medal in gold, silver, and bronze).  Additionally we had two students that were crowned as National Champions.

Here are this year’s results:

Abbey Carr – Pin Design – Gold Medal – National Champion

Will Burkart – T-Shirt Design – Gold Medal – National Champion

Sydney Sozio & Marilena Barberio – Audio/Radio - Bronze Medal – 3rd in nation

Jonah Mehrer & Nick Honeycutt – 3D Animation – 5th in nation

Eric Todd, Connor Vance, Daniel Engman, Michael Zamojcin – Interactive Application and Game Design (they made a video game) – 13th in nation

AND……on top of that Isaiah Forte-Rose and Rees Richardson had entered into the SkillsUSA Career Safe video challenge competition earlier in the year.  They were recognized on stage as 2nd place winners of the national contest, earning them scholarship money for college and our program.

Overall a record setting, banner year for MCHS SkillsUSA on the national scene, making school history with our first medals, and two gold medal national champions from the same school in the same year….

Truly Amazing!
