Principal's Weekly Message 5.6.2019


This is Xavier King, Principal of the Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy sharing the latest news and events. I would first like to thank everyone who was able to attend the Phoenix Fun Day. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it was evident those in attendance enjoyed the event as well.

Middle school students: Monday will be a B day.

This is just a reminder, all students should be in uniform during the school day.

Uniform Dress Code

Monday:  School polo

Tuesday:  School polo

This Wednesday: School Polo

Thursday:  School polo

Friday:  School polo


School polo days consist of days in which students may wear either a green, white, or grey polo shirts. Educational Outfitters provides green, white, and grey polo shirts with the school logo on them.


Students must wear flat or pleated khaki colored pants.

Socks and Shoes

Students must wear dark-colored socks and shoes. Business casual or dress shoes only (topsiders are appropriate).

Optional Uniform Pieces

Blazers and sweaters are optional. However, blazers should be black or navy blue. Sweaters are limited to plain black, gray, or green v-neck or cardigans

May 8th Free Breakfast

Students at the Main Campus will be provided a free breakfast on Wednesday, May 8th due to the start of Middle School EOG testing.


End of Grade (EOG’s) Tests will start on Monday, May 8th for our Middle School Students. For the exam schedule, please view the school’s calendar on the school’s website. Please make sure you have students here on time so they can get to their testing location with ease.

High School students will begin their exams on Wednesday, May 15th.

Testing Schedule:

Wednesday, May 8th: Middle School students will take their Reading EOG

Thursday, May 9th: Middle School students will take their Math EOG

Friday, May 10th: Middle School students will take their Science EOG/NCFE
Monday, May 13th: Middle School students will take their Social Studies NCFE

Tuesday, May 14th: Middle School students will make up any exams they missed

Wednesday, May 15th: Middle School students will take their Math 1 EOC

High School students will take their EOC’s

Thursday, May 16th: High school students will take their 1st and 2nd period non-EOC exams

Friday, May 17th: High school students will take their 3rd and 4th period non-EOC exams

Monday, May 20th: Middle & High School students will make up any exams they missed

Upcoming Events:

  1. Award Ceremonies will be coming up in the next couple of weeks:

    1. May 13th - 11th @ 9am at SAU in the Robinson Library

    2. May 13th - 9th and 10th @ 1:00pm

    3. May 16th – 8th Grade at 12:35pm

    4. May 17th – 7th Grade at 1:00pm

    5. May 20th – 6th Grade at 1:00pm

  2. Tuesday, May 21st will be the last day of school

  3. Tuesday, May 21st: Graduation will take place at 7pm in Meymandi Hall.
