December 5

Hello Zebulon Elementary Families,

This is Principal Newkirk with the update for the week of December 5, 2018.

First Friday

Join us Friday morning from 8:00 – 8:40 AM for First Friday. First Friday is an opportunity for parents to come into the classrooms and get a first hand look at what is going on. Parents are invited to go to breakfast with their child, visit the media center, and check out the morning work assignment in your child’s room.

Polar Express Night

On Friday December 14 at 6:00 PM the Zebulon Elementary PTA is hosting a Polar Express Movie Night. There is absolutely no charge to view the movie. There will be concessions sold for a small fee, but the movie is free.

All ZES students in attendance will receive a very special gift! Don’t miss out on this special prize for the first 300 ZES students in attendance. Students will want to keep this gift forever as a keepsake!

Magnet Selection

One of the best benefits of learning at a GT Magnet School is getting to take a variety of interest-based electives. On December 12 students will take home their elective registration packets. Please review this packet with your child and choose the course of student you feel is best suited to your child’s interests. Please complete and return the packet by December 14, 2018.

Student Attendence

Below is information illustrating a significant school-wide problem with student absences. Everyone has the best interest of our students and we all want to see our students perform on grade level and show growth on End of Grade Tests. However, we all know that when students are not here or they come in late on a daily basis, learning does not take place. Please help us help your students be successful by sending them to school everyday on time and ready to learn.

Family Academy

At the beginning of the year parents were asked to commit to attending 5 out of 6 Family Academy parent workshops. So far, we have hosted 2 of those family academies and attendance at both has been very low. On December 11 we will have our 3rd Family Academy meeting. For those of you who signed up to attend, we hope to see you then. We will serve pizza in the cafeteria at 5:30 PM and childcare will be available.
