April 8, 2020
I hope that this email finds you well as we are all adjusting to a new routine. Starting on March 20, WCPSS (and Underwood) moved our students's learning to a remote learning format. For the past three weeks, teachers and instructional support teachers have been working on providing families with a schedule that would allow for students to work on previously taught skills.
Starting on Wednesday, April 15th, our school will go to a remote learning schedule that will allow for newly taught lessons, providing individual support for students and frequent connections to their teachers. Weekly on our website (https://www.wcpss.net/underwoodes) teachers will add their grade level’s remote learning schedules, teacher office hours, and other supplemental materials for the week. (Please note: April 13th and 14th will look similar to what we have done up until this point. By starting “officially” on April 15th it allows us time to communicate with families to share information and expectations).
On Monday, April 13th, I will be hosting webinars for families to learn more about the remote learning platform, Google Classroom, and other features of this next phase of implementation. Please plan on virtually attending one of the sessions below based on your child’s grade level. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes.
- The K-2 sessions are at 9am, 1pm and 5pm.
- The 3-5 sessions are at 10am, 2pm and 6pm.
- All sessions are on Google Meet and can be joined at -- Meeting ID
meet.google.com/mzy-reja-chg or by phone (US)+1 402-862-6201 - PIN: 469 119 492#.
We also plan to record one of the sessions and it will be posted on the website in case you can’t attend one of the scheduled times above. In addition to this meeting from me, your child’s homeroom teacher or grade level team will also be scheduling a brief parent meeting to give more grade level specifics and details in the coming days.
We look forward to continuing to partner with you to support our students during this time. We appreciate all your efforts to promote learning at home!
