Principal's Message

Greetings Smith Elementary Family,

Our thoughts are with all of you during these uncertain times. We want you to know that we greatly miss our students and it is our most sincere hope that all of our Smith ES families are healthy and safe.

We have some information that we want to share with you.

First we encourage you to follow recommended guidelines for handwashing, “social distancing,” and other measures to keep your families safe. There are many resources on the Wake County Schools website, including ideas on how to talk to children about Coronavirus. The website is www.wcpss.net and the link is https://www.wcpss.net/domain/16595.

Please continue engaging your student in daily routines around sleep, meals, and remote learning. The WCPSS Remote Learning resource is a great site, https://sites.google.com/wcpss.net/instructional-continuity-wcpss) Ms Vanek is posting Virtual World Tours. This is a great way to expose your students to read alouds while they learn about other countries. https://docs.google.com/document/d/18eTa3pSEQETGfcNNA1hrcE0oSTZ8ZTlu4Zqh2wQ5h_k/edit.

Students can still access Education Galaxy. More information will be coming soon about the next phase of remote learning and the expectations for students and teachers. Please continue to communicate with your child's teacher.

If you are in need of meals, WCPSS has multiple distribution areas including, starting Monday 3/30/2020, Smith Elementary. Information about distribution sites can be found at https://www.wcpss.net/domain/16591

5th grade parents, please make sure you are completing the online registrations process for middle school. Let your child's teacher, or our counselor Ms. King, know if you have questions.

We miss our students very much and look forward to getting back to school.

Warmly,

Kim Mitchell

Principal
