Weekly Newsletter

Greetings Kingswood Family,

Although this is a little late, we would like to wish each of you a Happy New Year!  We have already enjoyed a week in this new calendar year and are looking forward to an exciting and successful 2022!  This month we will be finishing our 2nd quarter and looking into the 2nd semester as we continue to grow together in work toward end-of-year academic proficiency for each student.  As we jump into the 2nd week of January, please take a moment to review the information below:

School Updates:  Updated COVID Guidance/Protocols: Recently our district updated the COVID Return to School protocols.  Each family should have received communication from the district on these updates. In order to continue helping our school community in controlling the spread of the virus and follow this guidance, please make sure you have reviewed the updates at your earliest convenience and do not hesitate to reach out to us.  We are always happy to assist you and are extremely grateful for your ongoing support in this area (When to ReturnSafe Return to School Plan).

Weather: As we were reminded last Monday and Tuesday, January can be a strange weather month that can impact the school. Thank you for your patience and understanding through those two days in helping us adapt to the challenges.  In the future for any forecasted weather event and its potential impact on our school schedule, please refer to the WCPSS website or their Twitter account for the quickest updates.  Please also keep in mind cooler temperatures as students get ready for each school day.

Lost and Found: With an increase in the number of coats, hats, gloves, etc. that are brought into school each day, please consider writing your child’s name inside their tags to help us more easily identify items and who they belong to.  If your child is missing any items, please encourage them to check the lost and found for anything that may be missing.

Dreambox Math Practice: Dreambox is a program provided by our district for each student that has been proven to have a significant positive impact on student learning in Math.  The more our students use this resource, the more growth they are able to make toward their achieving grade-level standards.  In order to promote the use of Dreambox schoolwide, we will use January as a kickoff month for recognizing student usage.  The goal for every student is to complete at least 5 lessons a week, which means doing at least one lesson per day!  Students and whole classes who meet this goal will be recognized on our morning announcements each Friday.  We will also do shout-outs and certificates of recognition at the end of each month for individual students and classes, simply based on meeting the goal of at least 5 lessons per week.  We would love for you to partner with us, encouraging and building excitement with your child on using Dreambox more regularly to support their learning.

Student Birthdays:  Parents are not permitted to bring or send food for birthdays or celebrations of any kind.  Student’s birthdays will be recognized during school wide morning announcements and they will receive a birthday pencil.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
