Hunter GT / AIG Magnet Elementary School Updates
No School Monday, September 7th due to Labor Day Holiday!
Food distribution sites closed Monday, Sept. 7 - In observance of Labor Day, all WCPSS food distribution sites will be closed on Monday, September 7.
Kudos to our Families - Super thanks to our families, parents, caregivers, grandparents, tutors, babysitters, and the entire village that is working to support Hunter students! In just one week, our students have gained strong skills for connecting to their virtual meetings, actively participating, and learning how to access and turn in work! Please remember to give yourself grace as we acclimate to this new year!
Art Specials - Is your child enjoying Ms. Kernan’s art specials? If so, please see the note below and included on the bottom of her specials page for the week. Ms. Kernan is encouraging students to upload their artwork to the “Virtual Art Specials” Class Folder on: Artsonia Class Portal. Your child can use iPads or similar devices (or even a browser) to photograph their own artwork, make edits and enter artist statements - all on their own! The artwork will be reviewed by the art teacher prior to being published. Download the Artsonia 6.0 app in the Apple or Android app store, select the "Students" option, then scan the Access Code below (or manually type in the code). You can also go to www.artsonia.com/class on a browser if you don't have a compatible device. Please call the main office for the access code.
Grade Level Landing Sites - Need help connecting with a staff member, joining a google meet, or watching a specials class? Access everything from our grade level landing sites. (Please note, our landing sites are a simple way to guide parents to log in to WakeID and be directly connected to teachers’ google classroom sites.)
Instructional Supply Bags -- If you were unable to pick up your child’s Instructional Supply Bag, please contact our office so that we can set up a time for you to pick it up: 919-856-7676.
Devices and Hotspots - WCPSS anticipates completing device and hotspot distribution next week (for families who made requests with the initial survey.) Please check your email regularly if you have not yet been assigned a date / time for pick up. Distribution centers are located at Apex High School, Enloe High School, and Knightdale High School. (Leesville HS and South Garner HS have stopped operations.)

If you prefer to pay by check, or would like a free/sponsored membership (available to anyone!) - you may use this printable form, or contact email@example.com. Chess Club: Chess Club is ready to start a new year of having fun, learning and playing lots of chess! This year's Chess Club will meet online and is open to students who already know how to play. We will use an online meeting tool with breakout rooms so that students will be able to socialize while playing chess. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 16. If you would like to register, please fill out our registration form (http://bit.ly/HunterChessReg). At the end of the form, there is a link to MemberHub where you may contribute to Chess Club. This year, it is “pay what you can,” with a suggested contribution of $30 per student to help cover our operating costs. If your child does not know how to play chess but would like to learn, then please email Mark Indermaur at firstname.lastname@example.org instead of registering them for chess club. We will create a ChessKid account for your child and give you resources to help your child learn at their own pace. Your child is then welcome to join chess club any time during the year once they understand the fundamentals of the game. Since our registration form only asks for contact information for one parent or guardian, if you would like another parent or guardian to receive club notifications, please add their email address in the comment field.
Spirit Wear: Brand new Hunter swag is available in our MemberHub Store at https://hunter.memberhub.store/ Spirit Wear orders will close September 11th.
