Image result for spotlight clipartPTA Volunteer Spotlight:  This month, our Volunteer Spotlight is focused on the lovely Deborah Bryant.  "Aunt Deb," as she is known, is one of the best of us.  More than just giving her time, she gives her heart to this school and our children.  She is their friend, ally, and guardian angel.  Please take a moment to get to know what makes this special lady such a treasured member of the Hunter community.

All About Deborah ("Aunt Deb"):

  • Grew up in Raleigh
  • Attended both Hunter and Ligon as a child.  Was bussed to Sanderson during the time of Integration.
  • She worked in Customer Service for the Department of Transportation for thirty years.
  • Her nephew, Jaleel, is a Fourth grader at Hunter.
  • She lives right across the street from the school in a yellow house and walks Jaleel to and from school every day.
  • She is known to most everyone as “Aunt Deb”

Do you know a volunteer who makes a difference in the lives of teachers, students, and staff at Hunter?  Tell us about him!  Each month, we will shine a spotlight on one individual who gives their time and talents to help make Hunter so special.  Each honored volunteer will be featured in the VMF for that month, receive a $25 gift card and get some cool Hunter schwag!  Anyone with ties to Hunter (teachers, staff, parents, caregivers and don't forget students!) may submit a nomination.  You can find a Nomination Form in the permalinks below or in the front office.

Image result for book exchange clipartBook Exchange: The Hunter Book Exchange committee is very excited about this amazing event which is only a month away! The Book Exchange will be Friday February 7th, so start looking through your home libraries and gathering books that your children have outgrown or are no longer interested in.  We hope to allow each student the opportunity to choose 1-2 books to take home and enjoy or share with younger siblings/neighbors/etc.  The books left over from the exchange will be used to provide Hunter students books to read over the summer so send in as many as you can! We will collect books Tuesday, January 21st through Wednesday, February 5th. We will also need help with sorting book after school on Wednesday February 6th and/or during the day Thursday February 6th and during the exchange so be on the lookout for a sign-up genius in the coming weeks to help make this the best Book Exchange yet! Thank you for your support!
