Gardening Club Prepares for Spring

                     garden 1                                            garden 2

Although the unexpected snow prevented us from getting into the garden this month, the K-2 gardening club has been hard at work preparing for a spring harvest! In January, we researched various vegetables and herbs to see which seeds need to be directly planted outside and which can be started inside and transplanted later. In February, we planted lettuce, onions, and broccoli and we are excited to transplant them into our garden soon! This month, we checked the weather and decided it was not a good time to transplant our seedlings since there was a forecast for snow the following day. Instead, we used peanut butter, pinecones, and bird seed to make bird feeders. At our next meeting, we will finish planting and use a calendar to calculate the harvest date for each of our plants.
