On October 24th Green held a bike safety class for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. We had 12 students attend. They watched a video, had bike tires inflated along with adjustments made to their bikes, were fitted with free helmets, if they were needed, and practiced safety skills on courses outside. Participants also received bike maps from the city of Raleigh and bike safety coloring books.
Many thanks to Jennifer Delcourt, Wake County’s “Safe Routes to School” coordinator, Chris Anderson, service manager from Trek Bikes at Holly Park in Raleigh, Dana Orr with the Poe Center for Health Education, and parents Wendy Roberts and Gordon Shannon. We can hold events such as the bike clinic because of wonderful people like them.
