Green Students Participate in GeoBee

This year under the guidance of Mrs. Ashworth, our AG teacher, Green participated in the National Geographic GeoBee for students in fourth through eighth grades.  Students in fourth and fifth grade were given the opportunity to sign up and participate.  In all, Green seated 25 students for the Geobee each answering questions in rounds very much like a spelling bee.  Steven Salas-Arais finished in 1st place with Jeremiah Hunter finishing second.  Steven will now take an online test to see if he qualifies for the state level of the Geography Bee in North Carolina. 100 students will compete in March to go onto the national Geography Bee in May.

The National Geographic Society developed the National Geopgraphic GeoBee in 1989 in response to the concern about the lack of geographic knowledge among you people in the United States.  Over more than 3 decades, 120 million students have participated in the GeoBee.  For more information:
