Nazeidre Khan-Goldsmith is a SEMI-FINALIST for WCPSS Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations to 5th Grade Teacher and 4th/5th Grade Department Chair Nazeidre Khan-Goldsmith, who was selected by her peers as Fuller's 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year and who has now been named one of 20 semi-finalists for WCPSS Teacher of the Year!  We asked Ms. Goldsmith to answer some questions that we thought would help you get to know her a little better.  Here is what she had to say:


What is your favorite thing about being an teacher?
The relationships that I have created with students and their families is one of my favorite things about being a teacher. Also, I love creating a fun, nurturing, and safe environment for students to learn.
What is your favorite thing about Fuller?
I enjoy working with an awesome staff and diverse group of students. Fuller is priceless!
Tell us something about yourself that we might not already know:
I wanted to be a state highway patrol woman.
Why do you think teachers are important?
Teachers are a vital part of a student's future success. We create, expose, and nurture their creative minds and talents.
What is your favorite food?
Anything with rice and bread as sides.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Spend time with my family and friends.
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite book?
Becoming by Michelle Obama.
What is your favorite board game?
What is something "iconic" or specific to you as a teacher that you say to or do with students on a regular basis?
I greet students in the morning and when they leave my room before going home. One of my favorite things to do in my class is--When students get something right, I say “show him or her some love” and all of the students say Whoop Whoop. I know it’s cheesy but students like it.
What is your strongest wish/hope for your students?

I want my students to embrace authenticity, advocate for themselves, be resilient, encourage and motivate others, and celebrate accomplishments.

I am so blessed to work with such an amazing and supportive staff at Fuller.
