The NC State University Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership announced on May 8 the names of the 25 North Carolina public school teachers who have been awarded 2018-2019 Kenan Fellowships, and our own science specialist extraordinaire, Mr. Wayne Shore, is among these exceptional educators. According to the news release, which can be read in full here, the 2018-2019 cohort was selected from a highly-qualified applicant pool of over 70 educators from across the state following a competitive application process. As a Kenan Fellow, Mr. Shore will spend at least three weeks this summer interning with local experts in STEM fields. In addition, he will receive a $5000 stipend and participate in 80 hours of professional development focusing on instructional leadership, elevating teacher voice, strengthening ties between the school and the local community, peer coaching and mentoring, and growing professional learning networks that extend beyond the school and local district. He joins a highly-respected network of over 420 Kenan Fellows working to improve STEM education nationwide. CONGRATULATIONS, MR. SHORE!!!
