Good afternoon Explorers!
We are in mid-week 5 🙂 and moving along! We have now built relationships with our students and are really focused on supporting students to meet end-of-quarter expectations. Every minute of the instructional day counts, so come on time and stay all day--we need you here!
Carpool: We are still having parents not waiting in carpool, parking, and trying to check out students after the 3:15 cut-off. We will be strictly reinforcing the carpool procedures. If you come after 3:15 you will be requested to wait in the carpool line. During the last 30 minutes of the day, students are transitioning from specials, completing their afternoon instructional activities, packing up, completing homework agendas, etc. Sign-outs cause confusion, students become uncertain of their tasks, and the office is inundated with requests to call classrooms disrupting the last few minutes of instructional time with their teachers.
Buses: We are once again facing a bus driver shortage. As traditional schools begin expect that buses will run late or not at all. We will post on Talking Points when buses are late and we will request that parents pick them up. Please be sure you are getting school messages.
Now the good stuff!
Open House is TOMORROW! I love Open House time. Come learn about the curriculum, classroom routines, school expectations, and meet the specialists, your Admin Team, PTA, and more! Open House is from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Coffee and Conversation originally scheduled for 8:15 tomorrow 8/24 will be rescheduled to a later date in September. Stay tuned for more information.
School Improvement Committee Needs Parent Representatives: If you are interested in serving on one of our school improvement committees, please let me know by emailing cgraf1@wcpss.net and putting SIP in the subject line.
