Principal Message 8/3
School Messenger
August 3, 2022
Good afternoon Explorers,
The first week of school was successful. :) This week we welcomed our new preschool students and families and our Kindergarten students. So far, so good, our newest Explorers are filled with excitement and eager to learn.
This school messenger is focused on processes and procedures. Please read carefully as our security protocols are in effect and we want to provide clarity for you so that our students and staff remain safe each day.
Child Care Needs
Please complete this form if you are seriously interested in Before Care or After Care. Each program must have 25-30 paid enrollees in order to open. Enrollment must be sustained in order to remain operational. Many parents have indicated that they would like to enroll in either the Before Care or the After Care. Please sign up here to indicate your interest.
All Parents Need ID When Picking Up Your Children
Each time you visit EGES, please have your ID. Each visitor should follow our safety and security process. We cannot release a student to you without an ID--this is for known parents and unknown visitors.
When you come to campus, ring the bell at the door. We will do the following :
-
Ask the visitor the purpose of their visit.
-
Request the visitor’s name.
-
Request to see a form of identification on camera.
-
Request that the visitor step back from the camera to see from waist up.
Once information is given and verified, you will be granted access and requested to sign in at the Front Office. If you do not have ID or refuse to provide your name or purpose for the visit, you will be denied access to the building.
Early Check Outs
Early check out ends at 3:15 p.m. We begin our dismissal preparations at 3:15 and last minute changes may result in a student not being picked up, missing a bus, confusion, and sometimes tears for students. If you have an appointment for your child after 3:15 p.m. please plan on arriving prior to 3:15 and signing that student, out. Sign out occurs by scanning the QR code outside and completing the brief form. Ring the bell, answer the security questions, and follow the directions of the Front Office staff. After 3:15 p.m. pick up will only occur in the carpool line at 3:45 p.m.
Attendance Update
Each student will be coming home with an attendance letter. We have a new process for sending in sick notes and documentation. Please use the attendance403@wcpss.net email address for all notes and attendance communications. The email will be checked once a day by our Data Manager, Ms. Rodger. Questions about attendance: email Ms. Rodger at trodger@wcpss.net.
The EGES Staff and I are excited about beginning the school year with you. Our safety and security protocols keep each and every student and staff member safe. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Graf
