Parent Smore Message

Week of February 8-12, 2021

Happy Monday Explorers! Here is our upcoming week and a preview into next week.

A Look at Our Week

This week ALL students in Plan B Transition are remote.  Virtual Academy students remain virtual of course.  Remote learning days are this Thursday and Friday.  Students will complete asynchronous assignments on these two days.  Please check with your child’s teacher for specifics.

Next Week

We welcome Back all Pre K-3rd grade students for face to face instruction.  Students enrolled in the Virtual Academy will remain virtual.  Students in grades 4-5 and who are assigned to Cohort 2/B will return back to school in small groups.

We are excited to welcome students back face to face and want to share with you that we are committed to fully implementing our safety and health protocols in order to protect our students and staff members.  Please remind all students to wear their masks and follow all protocols as directed.

To help ensure next week goes smoothly, please review these reminders:

  1.  The Return to Campus Guide has been updated.  Please review all protocols with your children.
  2. Carpool will begin again.  Remember that students should not exit their car until each child has had a health screening and temperature check.  You will be given the go ahead to move to the drop off zone once you have passed the screening.
  3. If you have not registered for a bus, please do so.  Complete the Bus Rider Attestation form.
  4. Send a water bottle with your child’s name clearly marked.  Students are not permitted to drink directly from the water fountains.

Parent Q&A Session with Principal Graf, AP Anderson and AP Allain

Do you have questions about the return back to students?  Join Admin from 12-1 on Thursday for a Question and Answer session.  We will share protocols, procedures, etc. and have time dedicated to specifically address your questions.  Complete this registration form and we will send you a link with meeting instructions.

Positivity Project

P2 Memo for Parents

The Positivity Project focus this week is LoveLove means you value close relationships with others and being close to people. Love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships. When one person loves another person, that person: comforts and makes the other feel safe; sacrifices on the other’s behalf; supports the other during struggles; and places the others needs ahead of their own. If you love a person, that person makes you feel safe and secure. You can be yourself with that person.

Why does this matter? Love is imperative to an individual’s happiness and fulfillment in life. Love allows us to be intimate with another person. It allows us to open up to another person and be vulnerable. That openness gives us the ability to learn and grow. Loving another person and sacrificing on their behalf produces positive emotions. And, it helps you access strengths – and feelings – you never knew you had.

On a group level, love is vital for the well being of society. The world is endlessly interconnected. We are all dependent upon each other for survival and happiness. Love produces positive feelings, which help negate loneliness, anxiety, and depression. Without love, we cannot find intimacy nor form strong relationships with our families, friends, or communities. A world without love and connection is a dangerous world.

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”

Grades PreK-2 questions to discuss with your child this week are:

1.  How do you show love for friends, family, and other people in your life?

2.  Why is it important to have close relationships with others?

3. Is it important to love yourself? How can you do this?

Grades 3-5 questions to discuss with your child this week are:

2. Is it ever harder to love yourself than others? If so, why do you think that is?

3. How can your love for others make the world a better place?
