Happy Monday! I hope that you had a restful Thanksgiving Break. IT was nice to be out of the daily school routine for my family and me.


It will be great week at EGES. We welcome our Cohort 2/B students in Grades 4 & 5 today, along with our Pre K-3 grade students on Plan B Transition.


Registration Period for the WCPSS Virtual Academy

The registration window for the WCPSS Virtual Academy for elementary students for the spring semester will be Dec. 2-9.

 

The window for middle and high school students has closed.

Please note that this is for PreK-5 students wishing to register for the WCPSS Virtual Academy.

 

Families of students currently enrolled in a WCPSS Pre-K program who want to register their Pre-K student for a virtual learning option will receive specific information from their Pre-K teacher regarding that process. More information about Virtual Pre-K is available here.

 

This registration window will allow:

  • Currently registered WCPSS Virtual Academy students the opportunity to return to in-person instruction during the spring semester;

  • WCPSS Virtual Academy students registered for fall only to continue in the WCPSS Virtual Academy for the spring semester; and

  • Students who are not currently registered for the WCPSS Virtual Academy the opportunity to register for the spring semester.

 

Students who are registered in the WCPSS Virtual Academy for the entire year and who wish to remain registered for the spring semester do not need to take any action.

 

Students who are not currently registered for the WCPSS Virtual Academy and who do not wish to register for the spring semester also do not need to take any action.

 

Registration and Attendance Information

 

Families may apply and find more information at www.wcpss.net/Virtual-Academy.

Registration forms will be available online Dec. 2 for elementary schools. If you are interested in registering your child for the WCPSS Virtual Academy but your child is not currently enrolled in a WCPSS school, you will be directed to Student Assignment from this site.

POSITIVITY PROJECT

The Positivity Project Character Strength this week is Kindness. This character strength is grounded in the belief of a common humanity in which others are worthy of care, attention,

affection, and compassion. Kind people think about the needs and feelings of other people, and then act to help those people. Kind people are selfless. That is why a true act of kindness is distinct from helping another person in order to simply gain something for yourself. For individuals, kindness is correlated with desirable developmental outcomes. It is related to other-oriented emotions, like empathy and sympathy. Psychologists have even traced kindness and generosity as the keys to healthy, happy, and lasting marriages. On a group level, kindness is also very important. People who develop kindness possess a strong personal ethical responsibility to care for other people. Their acts of kindness towards others lead to additional acts of kindness by those who have been helped. Kindness is contagious!


Grades K-2 questions to discuss with your child this week are:

1. How do other people feel when you spread kindness to them?

2. How can you encourage others to show kindness?

3. Does kindness look the same to everyone? Why or why not?
