Week 12 School Messenger from Mrs. Graf

October 15, 2018  Week 12

School Messenger

Good afternoon Explorers,

This is Principal Graf with your weekly update.  It’s week 12 already! Time is flying by!

PTA Corner:

Membership Drive:  PTA will be sending out information on how you can join the PTA and support EGES soon!

This Week:

  • Field Trips:  Much of the parent input at the end of last year was about field trips.  Each grade level will be taking field trips this year. Payments must be made in order to secure charter buses and reservations to the wonderful sites for visits.  If down-payments cannot be made, the field trip will be cancelled, as the tour company requires a down payment for the beach and Washington DC trips.
  • Returned Checks: We are beginning to get returned checks from the bank.  Ms. Rodriguez will be contacting the parents and field trip reservations will be cancelled if payment cannot be provided in cash or money order.

Looking Ahead:

  •  10/22:  Once Upon a Flame 3-5 Student Assembly
  • 10/25: 4th Grade Field Trip to the Symphony

Celebrations:

  • Congratulations to Mr. Elmore, 3rd Grade Teacher who wrote and won the WRAL Azalea Grant for our school grounds AND who won the Schools on the Bus Grant to take his grade level on a field trip!
  • Congratulations to Ms. Shipman who had a baby girl, Ava last week!
  • Congratulations to EGES for achieving the Green Ribbon Award for PBIS Structures and Supports in improving student conduct and tiered level of supports.
  • Congratulations to EGES for being selected to present relationship building and supports for the whole child in Durham next week: Ms. Taylor and Ms. Perez, 5th grade.

Coming Soon:  Announcement of EGES Teacher of the Year!
