SRMHS Bulldog Parent News- News & Information from our Student Services Team

Hello Bulldog Families.  Please see the following for some news and information from our Student Services TEAM.  Thanks in advance. 

Free Financial Aid AssistanceWe will begin our financial aid assistance for the 2019/20 school on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 8am until 1 pm each Monday.  Ms. Sandra Winters, Financial Aid Representative will begin her support of Southeast seniors preparing for 2 year or 4 years of college.  Parents please instruct your student(s) to come to Student Services and sign-up for an appointment with Ms. Winters.  Parents may also attend the appointment with their student(s). We can also arrange for language interpretation if necessary. Early planning may help secure funding for school, as most financial aid distribution is based on available money.  For question, contact the Office of Student Services at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

Step 1: Determine Residency (residency must be established before students are allowed to take advantage of the fee waivers for college application week. Please use the link to complete your residency determination, http://ncresidency.org/.

Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid: applying for financial aid early may give you a better chance at receiving more financial assistance. Parents may use their 2018 tax information to complete the financial aid application. 

Step 3: October 21st - 25th, Free Application Fee (for participating colleges) see link for a list of colleges: https://www2.cfnc.org/#/campussearch

Step 4: Searching for Scholarships: Students may search for scholarships on their own through College Foundation of NC or other academic websites, as well as check out Southeast's website with ongoing posting of new scholarships. Look under the Student Services tab and click scholarships for more information.  

Counselor Conferences: Parents counselor conferences have begun for each grade level. Please encourage your student to speak with their grade level counselor about a conference to review their academic plan and progress. Counselors by grade level include: Ms. High-9th Grade, Mrs. Shaw-10th Grade, Ms. Hall-11th Grade and Mrs. Samek-12th Grade. For additional support or questions, you may contact Ms. Poole, Dean of Students. "We are student focused, student driven".
