Mr. Saunders' Message 040719

Baucom Parents & Guardians,

This is Principal Saunders with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message.

Parents – please take about ten minutes to complete this year’s parent survey. I’ve posted the direct link to the survey in the Aviator Messages section of our main page.

We’ve got a busy week of school ahead of us, but it’s really exciting! Our annual tradition of a visiting author takes place this week on Tuesday and Wednesday when Henry Cole visits.  We’ve got a few field trips on the agenda and, of course, this Friday afternoon is the Baucom Marathon 2019! The first runners will begin around 2pm so if you plan to visit and watch, please arrive closer to 1:30pm so that you can gain a visitors sticker in the main office and have your car parked well before the celebration run begins. If you plan to check out your Aviator after the run, ALL sign-outs MUST occur back in your child’s classroom. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Parents interested in Single Subject Acceleration, or “SSA,” for their child – there is information on our website within the Gifted and Talented tab AND at the bottom of our main page in the Meeting Appropriate Levels of Academic Challenge link.  Parents or teachers can nominate students to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts OR Mathematics. Students may only be nominated and assessed for SSA in ONE subject area. The SSA nomination window for Baucom is 4/23-5/6/2019.  The nomination window officially closes at the end of the school day on May 6th and late nominations cannot be accepted.  SSA nomination forms are now available in the front office via Ms. Headlee.

Parents – remember that Spring Break begins after the marathon this Friday.  There is NO SCHOOL all of next week and the following Monday.  Students should return to school, ready to finish strong, on Tuesday, April 23rd.  I will not do a phone message next week; the next one will be on Sunday the 21st

Thank you, Aviators, and we wish each of you #blueskies this week.
