Mr. Saunders' Message 033119

Baucom Parents & Guardians,

This is Principal Saunders with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message.

Parents of a current 5th grader – School Counselor Abby Spencer is hosting our annual Middle School Parent Night tomorrow night, April 1st, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.  This is a very informative meeting.  At the meeting, each parent will receive their child’s math placement verification sheet and elective verification sheet.  An interpreter will be available for our Spanish-speaking families.  Again, this is tomorrow night at 6pm for parents of current 5th graders.

Also, parents of a 5th grader – this Wednesday, April 3rd, from 6:00 to 6:30pm, we will hold a parent meeting in Ms. Minnick’s 5th grade classroom, room 517, to go over the Human Growth & Development unit of study that is scheduled to be presented to all 5th graders during the week of April 8th.  We sent home a letter about this unit of study last week.  Some of you with former Baucom Aviators or Buddies may remember this unit of study and some of the topics covered in it.  Please come to the information session Wednesday night at 6pm to hear more about the unit and have your questions answered.

Parents – please take about ten minutes to complete this year’s parent survey via Panorama Education.  Information on the survey came home with your child, but please call or email School Counselor Christina Jenkins here at Baucom if you need any additional information on it.

Parents who are interested in Single Subject Acceleration, or “SSA,” for their child – there is information on our website within the Gifted and Talented tab.  I will have more information about SSA in next week’s message too.

World Autism Awareness Day is this Tuesday, April 2nd so we want all of Aviator Nation to Light It Up Blue that day!  Have your Aviator wear blue on Tuesday to show their support of friends and family members with autism. More information on autism, and apparel for the big day, can be found at

Last, but certainly not least, Ms. Carrie Huffman begins her tenure as Baucom’s next assistant principal tomorrow and we in the school building are very excited to welcome her aboard.

Thank you, Aviators, and we wish each of you #blueskies this week.
