Introducing our new Asst. Principal - Ms. Carrie Huffman!
I'm so proud to announce Ms. Carrie Huffman as Baucom's next Assistant Principal! Ms. Huffman has been serving Aversboro Elementary since August of 2017 as their Assistant Principal. She, her husband, their two dogs, and their beautiful daughter Abigail reside here in Apex so this is a dream come true for her. She's originally from Hopewell Junction, New York. She moved to North Carolina when she began her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Elon University. Ms. Huffman taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Haw River Elementary in the Alamance-Burlington district from 2009 to 2011 and then 4th grade at Cameron Park Elementary in Orange County from 2011 to 2015. In 2016, she did her full-year internship as a member of the 22nd Class of NC Principal Fellows through The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Our school-interview team members can tell you, Ms. Huffman is an extrovert who loves to engage with others. Kim Harmon, our PTA President, sat in on the interviews. Ms. Huffman's background and experiences will deposit a wealth of new ideas and perspectives into our school, while also helping us continue our positive momentum with school climate and culture. She values teachers and aims to support them, she is great with students and wants to see them daily, and she is an excellent communicator with parents.
I thank you all for your continued trust in me as we strengthen our foundation as a school and build something strong atop it in the coming years.
