Mr. Saunders' Message 1/6/19

Baucom Parents and Guardians,

This is Principal Brian Saunders with several key messages in this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message

First, a big congratulations to two Aviators whose artwork won at the county level of this year’s Reflections program and will now move on to the state level!  Ava Primak from Mr. Stack’s 5th grade class in Intermediate Literature and Emma Crowley in Ms. Bray’s 2nd grade class for the Primary Literature category.  Way to go you two!!!

Parents – please be aware that, beginning tomorrow, we will begin sending an attendance message via phone to you around 5pm on a day when your child has been marked absent from school.  Those of you with older children may already be familiar with this message from your child’s middle or high school.  This is a recommended communication practice across all Wake County schools.  If you feel an error in attendance was made, simply contact your child’s teacher the next day.

Carpool parents – please remember to use both the left and right lanes in our carpool circle near Hunter St so that we can fit more cars onto campus and keep Hunter St clear of stopped traffic.  You’ll merge into one lane in the portion of the loop nearest to the bus area, prior to reaching the Safety Patrol 5th graders.

The Baucom Lost & Found has expanded rather rapidly in recent weeks.  This week, please either come in to look for a specific item or work with your child’s teacher for him or her and your child to look for it this week.  Items without a name label will need to be donated next week as we have a limited space to keep these items.

Tomorrow, January 7th, at 9:30am, we are offering a tour of the school for parents of a rising Kindergartener.  Please, if you have friends that have a rising Kindergartener and have never been to Baucom, please let them know about this opportunity.  They can also attend this month’s PTA meeting which is set for this Tuesday, January 8th at 12:30pm in the Media Center.

Please mark your calendars with two very important dates that are still about a month out.  Please mark Thursday, January 31st, as STEAM Night at Baucom.  STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.  And then, please mark Tuesday, February 12th as PTA Science Expo Night.

FYI - on Thursday, January 10th, our Music Box Singers, led by Ms. Seaboch, will sing at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary at 7pm.

FYI - Friday, January 18th and Tuesday, February 19th are now student instructional days to make up for the early-December snowstorm.

Whew!  That was a lot this week!  Keep flyin’ high Aviators!
